    price/performance = fail
    performance/expected lifetime = fail
durability / capacity (VS HDD) = fail (unless you plan on throwing that)
durability / capacity (VS Flash Drives) = win
    Speed/Capacity (VS HDD) = fail
Speed/Capacity (VS Flash Drives) = Equal

Not really practical IMO.. Unless you have SSDs laying around..

I just want to copy my movies to work faster than usual, i used to copy around 12mins for 8 gb file to my cruzer flash. Thats it, just call me crazy. But anyway, it worked. I used intel 120gb and copied 8+ gb file in 150 secs. Yey

Kung naa budget sakto why not, eSATA jud or Firewire. Og USB 3.0/2.0 murag limited ka sa interface speed.

grats TS!... if money is not an issue, then why not dba? glad to know that you're happy on you're purchase...

for many of us (i'm included) w/ a limited budget, this move is not ideal though not until the prices of the SSD will fall like rain drops... hehehe...

by the way, got a friend here too... had recommended a SSD for his external drive since he's not contented on the transfer rate on his external drive... for me, that recommendation was just a joke. sus gi tinood man nya... he purchased a Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB... and after the purchase, he's all smiles now pero dili sya ang nagamit daily... dako2x gyud ug damage... the SSD drive cost him 3,399 rmb (23.8K php equivalent)... galit sa pera ning tawhana... bwehehehe... iyahang gihatag sa anak nya ang drive... pag ka swete sa anak... she's only 10 yrs old...

^ i'm not referring to you on my statement na "galit sa pera"... did2 ko nag refer sa akoang officemate na intsik... hehehe... dako kaayo sya gasto for the SSD alone... anyway, if you're happy, continue to use it...

ako pud diri, dili ko contented sa transfer rate sa akoang external drive (WD 1TB). gamit ni nko sya for back-up sa freenas server... mo abot ug 1 day ang pag back-up sa 700+GB. tansfer rate kay 25+GB/sec lang on the external drive that is connected to my entertainment rig... if internal drive akoang gamiton from the same PC (entertainment rig), mo dagan lang ug 3 to 4 hrs ang pag back-up on the same file size kay ang transfer rate, mo abot man ug more than 100 MB/sec ang transfer rate through my gigabit home network... ah, my "nice to have" lang siguro ni... kaning duha (entertainment PC & Freenas server) kay both are running 24/7 man pud... no worries... bisan pa 1 week mag back-up sa file, i can wait... basta dili lang mag reboot...

i can relate to your feelings on the transfer rate... hehehehe...
