Can you show some links regarding the difference of 8 series compared to 7 series and X1k series in terms of the points you raised:

With regards to the pricing.....

That 7900gs price you listed is overpriced. No one would buy that since its correct price should be around 7k pesos.
Also, ang competitor sa 7900GS is not the 8600GT... it's the 8600GTS which sells for 8k pesos.

Ang ka level sa 8600GT is the 7600GT which sells for 5,600 pesos

If I had 9k pesos now, I would save it until DX10 games come out. By then mas barato na ang cards and naa nay benchmarks for DX10 games, Ati HD 2600, and possibly, mas affordable na ang 8800 series which currently sells for 13k sa manila.

i think Nvidia made a mistake of naming the cards, coz people were expecting the 8600GT to be 15%-20% faster than than the 7600GT, just like the 7600GT with the 6600GT, and I do think the 128bit interface would be a limiting factor for DX10 games, ok ra tingali kung low res but with ws lcd screens bati gyud labas

Like you, I'm also not a hardcore gamer ... akong approach is more of value for money and functionality sad.

Yeah, I know Earl Rainer Ramos from PC Express. Ang problema lang gyud if based lang sa solely ang imong decision sa PCX kay they will advise you depending on what stock they have available. (Like kung wala sila ga carry ug usa ka product then there's no reason why they would recommend it)
Akong basis for choosing hardware is customer reviews from sites like newegg.com and hardware benchmarks from various websites. I also check on what's available sa manila and sa gawas para naa koy point of comparison if fair ba ang prices or grabe ra ang patong sa retailers.

I agree with your point.... dapat 8600 should have been called 8500 lang.... a lot of Nvidia Fans really expected the 8600GT to deliver performance levels close to the 8800GTS. Daghan na disappointed when they found out that ang performance isnt even half of the 8800 series. I was planning to buy the 8600GTS at 199usd... pero i settled for X1900GT at 129usd. (save money now then buy into DX10 later when cheaper na ang performance value cards and naa nay DX10 games available)

Quake 4 is dated na man... October 2005 pa gud na' nga release...7600GT and 8600GT will play it at max gyud.

You have to remember sa 2005 ang high end videocards ato nga time were the Geforce 6800, X1800... midrange ang 6600, X1600. ... ultra high end at that time was 7800GT and X1800XT

try it with more recent games like R6 Vegas, Company of Heroes, even Oblivion.


Besides, the true test sa card nimo will be once Dx10 games .... Crysis and Halo 3 come out.... hopefully naa pa ni nga thread so we'll find out kung OK ba gyud ang 8600 series. I'm also anxious to see benchmarks cause I may upgrade to Dx10 and Vista by then.

btw, You mentioned that you're using Vista temporarily... and ur going back to XP after. Will you be getting Vista once Dx10 games come out?

well if i were to choose (to have mucho pera), i'd go for the 8800GTX & i-SLI na lang than spend for the 8800Ultra. coz gamay ra ayo performance difference sa GTX & Ultra, & even a SLI 8800 GTS can out-perform both.

mahala ra sad anang 8800GTX uy .. even 8800GTS 640mb is too much... mahal na man gani ang 8800GTS 320... for a videocard...

X1950XT nalang ko...
