True but how many Ouano's and Ouano-wannabes were elected during the last election? Is our government really changing for the better? Just look at our Congress, Senate and the President herself. As long as our election process is driven by money and popularity, we can expect more of their kind to win elections.

There is still hope for Philippine politics to improve. If there are problems nowadays both the politicians and the voters are to be blamed.
The politicians always speak about their half-baked political agenda and ask for people's votes. After being elected into office they just sit in their offices, do nothing, or research for issues they can create to attack the President or their enemies.
On the other hand, the voters are to blame too for their shallow thinking and their mediocrity for selecting mediocre politicians. Most of the time the voters just vote whoever there is and settle for less. Thus contributing to the winning of more rotten tomatoes in Philippine politics.

The true makeup of a Filipino is rooted in Spanish colonial influence and because of that, neither politicians nor voters are to be blamed.
If we didn't have that spanish influence we Pinoys will probably come out much better. Its all about attitude that we inherited from them which might be so impossible to change because its already a part of our makeup as a Filipino.

its becoming worst. We're all to blame to continue to allow ourselves to be bought or not to even do anything on what we see.

We can't do something about the past. It's all history. What we can do is to put some change in our future by helping in our own little ways. The past elections seemed to be a test for us if we voted for the right people in public office. IMHO, we still voted for the most popular ones, regardless of their performance and track- record.

But then again, those elected in public office can prove very well to the Filipino people that they will be serving the interest of the public. Maybe for some, but with the likes of Cayetano, Legarda and Villar, or Honasan and Trillanes for that matter, we are just putting our hopes in doubt.

That's like saying that my great grandfather was a murderer so I cannot be blamed for murdering too. The sooner we face our problems and find a solution to them, the better for us and our country. We can't just keep on justifying our shortcomings by blaming our historical past.

so far, philippine politics has improved. montano and gomez didn't win the elections. people are now aware as to who's deserving and capable.

^ But blabbermouths and coup plotters are still there. Cayetano, Honasan and Trillanes were the ones chosen instead of those people who could have been more deserving at the posts like Recto and Defensor.

I just hope that if the people are applying the lesser evil principle, they should really choose the least evil if there are a number of options. Apparently, they were able to cross out celebrities on their list but they did not single out those coup plotters.

^ we could not apply change abruptly, but at least it's improving. this so called 'coup leaders' or 'oppositions' are a lot better than those celebrities who knows nothing and not competent at all.

There is hope. At least I personally believe there is. But not in our lifetime. Lets start now with educating our children the good values in life. There's a saying in Tagalog which says "kung ano ang itinatanim, siya ang binubunga". Politics today is too corrupted, our culture is. We only have to blame ourselves for it. Lets start today to do simple things that can make a difference like obeying traffic rules etc.. and teach our kids the good values. maybe we would see a new country in the next generation.I don't think were a lost cause. Look at our fellow citizens in other countries, Filipinos have been recognized world over for their talents and work ethics. Yes, it needs political will but our leaders today are mostly corrupted. Its a gradual cleansing of the system that we need. If its immediate, then we need a revolution of some sort.
