If you plan to go into Grados dont bother with the SR60i. Go for the SR80i. For me this is one of the best starter audiophile headphones you can have alongside the Audiotechnica ATH-M50. be warned though that Grados have a distinct sound signature that some audiophiles dont like. It feels like sitting in the front row during a live performance. the sound is directly clear in front of you. its means its soundstage is not as wide as the others prefer but still open enough for you to get the details. It is also more suited to Rock and also good in Acoustic, vocals and guitars. but quite lacking in House/Techno, you would definitely need an amp if you are a dance basshead if you know what i mean. the M50 is more neutral and works well with any genre albeit more expensive than the SR80i. I had auditioned the M50 in Egghead so many times already and i really liked it, even better compared to the more expensive Senns. for me either of these 2 are excellent starters if you really are serious in getting into hifi listening. then from there once you have outgrown your starters, if you want you can upgrade to higher end cans. i am quite biased with Grados so forgive me i have the SR80i and saving up to upgrade to the Reference RS1.

NOTE: at the end of the day, despite thousands of reviews, critics and praises, pros and cons, no matter what brand, model, price a particular can is, the best judges are still your ears.

Jmwreck and Korg17 thanks for the insights guys. Really appreciate it. I'm just starting on headphones because my exposure have been on home theater and audio using the floor stander and book shelve speakers. Been using the B&W 603 and 601's series for the home theater set up and the 685 for audio and I'm happy with it. I'm more into jazz, flamencos, easy listening and classic rock as my favorite genre.

Anybody here tried the Marshal Monitors and the Aiaiai TMA-1? Was just walking around Centrio and saw them in Digital Walker. Auditioned the Monitor and find dark and more consumer oriented instead of a true monitor. Unfortunately, no demo unit for the TMA-1.

I havent tried the Marshall Monitor. but i had the Marshall Major before, i got it simply out of curiosity since Marshall is a big audio brand. It was BAD. turns out these cans are actually manufactured by Zound, same maker as urbanears and other "Lifestyle" headphones out there. Its just the same urbanears headphone re-branded. Marshall is simply more on the aesthetic design and branding much like the Monster Beats by Dre. these are in no way close to Audiophile quality, so when the Monitor came out I was like forget about it.

the Aiaiai TMA-1 i havent tried it. Reviews point it to be more suited/specialised to House/Trance/Club/electronica Music and the sorts. and is a serious contender to the Senn HD25-1 as a popular choice for DJs. i wish Digital Walker has demo units too, ill prob get this if only i could audition it to make sure.

I thought so too about Marshall products, the Monitor just piqued my interest as they already have a actual sound engineer to tune it, unlike their previous products. Thanks for the inputs

Hey talking about AT, dropped by Centrio again and saw an M50s/le at the iStore and tried it out to see the difference between the regular M50 as some tend to say they differ slightly. Can't really tell the difference. Was offered to try the pro700mk2, bad decision, it went out the store with me... It sounds like the M50 on steroids, good bass, nice treble and clear mids.
