Well, thanks for the suggestions.I would like to caution people away from the notion that "paid = good", though. As any consumer knows, just because something says deluxe or premium, it doesn't mean it is. The same is true here; there are a ton of good, free apps that blow their commercial (paid) counterparts out of the water. After all, even if we look at the platform, the idea holds true: Android, which is free and opensource, is better than IOS (imho, anyway).
More favorite apps:
1. aDownloader - My favorite torrent and download manager. The reason I use this over aTorrent, tTorent, and all those other torrent apps is that aDownloader also functions as an HTTP download manager with resume functions.
2. Feedly - Since Google Reader is closing down soon and the official Google Reader app isn't even available anymore, I had to find something to fulfilll my RSS needs. Feedly has the bonus of having both a mobile app and a web-based desktop version and Chrome extension.
3. Hide It Pro - This app allows you to hide any pictures, videos, apps, messages, or even calls that you don't want other people to see. It installs discreetly with the name Audio Manager (which actually does work as an audio manager), with the actual Hide It Pro app launchable via long press on the title. The app can be configured with a PIN for additional security.
4. MessagEase Keyboard - Absolutely the most innovative keyboard I have ever used on a mobile platform. I was rather doubtful at first since the layout was a bit unusual and took some getting used to, but after a couple of weeks of using it, I now type faster on my mobile phone than I do on my PC keyboard! Amazing stuff.
5. Opera Mini - The default ICS browser is pretty good and is what I actually use for daily browsing, but I also have Opera Mini installed for those instances when I am on a slow internet connection. The web compression they use speeds up browsing even on really slow connections.
6. MX Player - The developers say it plays everything, and while I haven't been able to verify that claim, it does seem to play every video I throw at it. The best video player for Android.
7. QuickPic - Better than the built-in gallery. 'Nuff said.
8. Ultimate Custom Widget (UCCW) - Like the name says, it's the ultimate widget for people who love customizing their user experience. While there's a bit of a learning curve if you want to make your own widget, once you get the hang of things, you can create practically anything with it. And if you don't want to bother learning the ropes, there are tons of free UCCW skins on Google Play, XDA Developers forum, and DeviantArt for you to try out.
9. WidgetLocker - Yeah, this is a paid app, so I'm kinda breaking my streak here of only recommending free ones. I was lucky enough to be able participate in the beta program on XDA back when this was distributed for free, so I still have the last free version, but this app is worth every penny if you're into customizing your user experience. Use this together with UCCW to create some truly beautiful lockscreens. IOS users could only look on in envy. Paid and free WidgetLocker themes can be found on Google Play, XDA Developers forums, and DeviantArt, or you could make your own.

I’ve tried several apps before like skype, kakao, viber, line, tango, fring etc, but my favourite Android app so far is Global Call. It’s in Google Play too, it was recently launched that’s why it’s giving away $1.50 worth of free calls upon download as promotion. And since they charge a flat rate per minute Global Call is now cheaper compare to other Apps. Plus this is POTS( plain old telephone service) friendly-- meaning you can even call landline, no need to ask the person you’re calling to install the same app for you to make the call possible.
