In terms of UITF sa banks, based on my personal research, the best in terms of performance this year are the following.
    1. Unionbank
    2. BDO
    3. Metrobank

    Note:
BDO and Metrobank are doing great this year, but Unionbank has been consistently superb for the past several years.

    Just an additional info.

Aside from MF and UITF, there are also VUL (variable universal life) insurance being offered by AXA, Prulife, Philam Life, Sunlife, etc.
These VULs are also doing very well.
AXA is even outperforming the UITF of Unionbank and BDO.

So if you plan to get an insurance at the same time invest long term, might as well consider getting a VUL

Types or MFs and UITFs are normally equity and bond funds. Equity funds are fund primarily invested in the stock market while bond funds are invested on debt instruments. Proper term for bond funds is fixed income funds since it includes notes, bills, and even cash other than bonds.

Regarding the companies, for MFs, you can highly consider PAMI, FAMI, and Sun Life. For UITFs, BPI and BDO lang akong madunggan pirmi but its not that difficult since banks are everywhere, you can just shop around. For MFs, you either have to go to their office or look for a broker/advisor.

when investing into MF/UITF, it's usually the long term outlook and long term historical performance that matter most (although, "past performance is not an indicator of future results" rule still applies...nevertheless, it puts credibility of the fund to deliver value to investors)

Long term investing especially on Mutual Funds is about share accumulation...not about short term performance.
