Its sad to see we are getting 40 year old junk from the US, same tradition as our shipping industry.
In the meantime our neighbor Vietnam is much better armed.
They have two Gepard-class frigate.
Gepard class frigate lives firing - YouTube
One ship like this will just obliterate our junks before they can leave port.
Lets be realistic here, these new acquisition is not a game changer and just a sitting duck.

Flanker,,,,Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia got junk F-16s, how come pinas don't have one?? reason,,,"TRUST"
Kini si flanker kay anything that is USA-related kay hate niya. -------------> Commie.
The US Littoral Combat classes or even the Spanish F101/F105Bazan class will rape your Russian Gepard-Class like a ragdoll. Vietnam won't stand a chance against us, if we can purchase on of these badboys. Even Russian navies won't dare to go head to head with the F105 Bazan class. Of course kung maka afford pud ta- $600+ million raman nuon.

Tell that to our tongressman, The MRV project was delayed before tungod kay cgeg question si Type O ngano kinahanglan kuno mupalit ato na wala man kunoy armas...
And the funds to acquire this ships are not from the budgets of the AFP, gikan siya sa laing mga governement agencies, DOE in particular...
I'm not a PNoy admirer, pero lets face it... He modernized the AFP more than the 3 past presidents did...
And also ang ato neighbors kay daku ug percentage sa national budgets and para sa defense, ang sa atoa kay grabe ka gamay ma red tape pa gyud...
instead of modernizing weaponry. it's better to buy equipment that can help our farmers till our lands. help fishermen too.
we can't eat guns and bombs.
