In my observation, one thing for sure in every situation like this where our country is figured in international crisis, the opposing parties and its government are almost always in solidarity with one another. In contrast we are very fragmented and divided with such issues. That i guess is proof that their country and culture is much stronger and united than ours...

This nationalism they exhibit is the herd mentality of being childish, ridiculous, and totally absurd. Our fragmentation is caused by having people with common sense and logic in analyzing the issue against with fellow Filipinos exhibiting the same herd mentality of being childish, ridiculous and totally absurd. This response of Taiwan will be recorded as an embarrassment in their history.

It's culture, Filipinos don't have any nationalistic values whatsoever, even if they say so it stays only at that level "words". When push comes to shove most will just play ignorant bystanders and wont even offer a helping hand. This is fact and this is one of the reasons why foreign powers are so successful againts us.

Sadly I do agree on this and is a bit frustrating at times, but it does not mean that we as a people can't change for the better.

for the filipinos for I am one.
We should stand on our ground,
and do everything we could to make ourselves a slave
of their prowess, even the US sympathize over us for not
condemning the tragedy, how come some of us do.

We have sovereignty and integrity how many we did kill
to champion that before, how many heroes being made just because,
we do have that sense of nationalism, are we willing to sacrifice this and lose
face just because we are contending a nation that is far more superior than us,
and that now is pure BS.
They can still find work somewhere else, and we can still do business somewhere
else. F%$k them I could say.

i recommend that people read the post linked above. it looks like the taiwanese fishing boat that allegedly tried to ram our CG is only slightly smaller so it could very well have created serious damage to the CG boat and putting the lives of people on board in grave danger. so, self-defense might truly have been warranted BUT.. we know nothing, juan sho. let's wait for the result of the investigation. if it shows our CG used excessive force then the pnoy govt should charge them accordingly and amend our apology to the taiwanese govt. if it's found that our CG acted on self-defense and/or the killing was an accident (it is mentioned in the blog post that our CG fired on engine room to disable the boat but the fisherman was inside) then we can only hope that the taiwanese govt accept it.

i don't know anyone currently working in taiwan right now but it's not easy reading news about our OFWs there being turned away from restaurants and grocery stores. there's one report of one being beaten. emotions run high, people react differently. i wished it didn't lead to this and i hope it doesn't get any worse and if the situation was other way around that we don't react the way they did. so yes, a big NO-NO to those inciting violence against taiwanese here. even if it's a joke, it's a bad/dumb joke. this is a public forum. anyone can read our posts. so post/discuss sensibly. keep your emotions in check.
