ana jud na ts sa old pc,dili ka kamulti task while nagrender.sa quadcore, makamulti task ka.ga render na,gacad na,ga fb pa,nya sideline istorya.net.hehehe
hapit na mahuman akong RIG...
i will name it...
PROJECT : BLACK BEAST
^ako ts no names ni akong computer diri. hahahahaha.

Ayaw pag k processor, not worth it. Katong pinaka ubos nga quad core sa ivy bridge ok nato. Diritsu 8GB ram 1 stick. Then upgrade pohon to 16GB ram.

another misconception of rendering. again most of work load will be on the CPU not on the GPU and I said most. kanang mga CGI mas dali pa ang pag model sa mga 3d objects kay sa post-process. kanang post-process mao na pina ka dugay sa 3D. it takes a lot amount of time. Maong to philippines nag sulay ug 3D Animated movie dugay kau to nahuman kay not enough resources.
For K processor, bisag dli man kog fan of overclocking akong gi overclock kay sayang gasto nako sa K unit. sakto pud imong gi suggest sa processor the lowest quad of the ivy bridge. but as for the GPU i would say "GTX 690"? Even the highest Desktop GPU cant even compete with lowest end Workstation GPU when it comes to rendering kay walay precision feature ang mga desktop model which is required for rendering kay intawn masking usa rana ka frame imong gi render sakit naku na kung ma sipyat. maong built for the kill jud na ang mga workstation unit.
As for GPU you can go for the low cost model may it be the GT640 or depends whichever helps you in your work. Kung mag 690 or 7990. complete waste of money kung mao na imong purpose since casual gamer raman sad. but those cards are nice to have. but maximize your budget.
Example lang ha. I have the 3570k+HD6990+32GB(just upgraded hahaha). nya all cores are at 100% load while the GPU is just around 40%.

Naka 100% imung cpu kay adto man nag depende sa cpu, pero kung adobe after effects, premiere etc. pwede nako e set ang rendering sa gpu which is faster than the cpu. Adobe Mercury Playback Engine/CUDA explains it all. Kung walay ingun ani nga feature imung gpu aw by default adto jud labay sa cpu.
CPU vs GPU Video Rendering Speed Comparison

^the video explains it all. the cpu does most of the work. the cpu alone got 19.7 while with the 2 got 20secs and thats with cpu+gpu. less is more right? i don't know if they are using the same cpus i would assume that they did during the comparison. and as you mentioned the MAYA 2013 from your previous post. no the software is very dependent on the CPU. I have tried that software and others as well like 3D Studio Max and Maxon Cinema4D and all of those are very cpu dependent. In the world of multi threaded application it is not less is more when it comes to its hardware components but more is more. More CPU core means more power. More GPU means that you won't be having a head ache about the quality of the frame.
The world of CG is so vast and its worth the time of venturing.
and TS for more referrence about CGI go to cgchannel.com dira tanan inspiration nako. lau rakau ang deviant art diri. you will see matte paintings, photo realism art and etc from various artist.
