i miss the old days where the winning politicians have more integrity than money.
....when poor candidates can win over the rich.
    ....when voters vote by principles.
....when the vote buyers are hiding on dark corners ashamed of what they were doing.
....when voters still care for the country and choose the right leaders.
    ....ahh those were the days....

^ were there ever those days? the corruption of this day is the snowball result of yesteryears. We had always been a paternal style of politics, of personality, and of perpetual mendicancy....

the problem with philippine politics is... people are giving so much damn about politics, to the point that many people are blaming the government for thier poverty instead of looking to what they've done wrong in their life.
countries like Korea or Japan and some European countries do have corruptions, corruption in S.Korea is as obvious as our country, but hey look! there country is part of the economically strong countries(first world) because Koreans do not give a damn about politics same as Japanese people,
but for Pinoys? as long as naa clay mabasol, ila basolon..

^ unfortunately, you can't help but get involved into politics, as you have to defend yourself from the system of corruption. The government is an unforgiving annoyance and a disruption to productive relations among men.

maybe he's talking a certain place where there's a manifestation of a clean election but Philippine politics in general is dirty..even in the old days.

    1. Political Dynasty is a consequence of the powers of government. When we give full authority to the government to be able to legislate almost anything, it is profitable for politicians to establish a dynasty, not necessarily a direct succession of one's own family.

    2. The game of popularity is the negative aspect of Democracy, a number's game. The majority will be able to do what it wants against the minority. Again, the powers of government should be limited, and the exercise of democracy should also be limited. Limited in the sense that we cannot vote by majority to steal the money of the minority in the name of a noble cause.

    3. Self interest is not a problem. It is the most natural of all living creature. Aren't you motivated by your own self-interests? Only fools would deny self interests and see it as a problem. Everything is dictated by self interests, it is as natural as your hunger and breathing instincts.

    4. Corruption is a natural negative consequence of power. The more power the government has, the more corrupt it becomes. Again, limit the power of the government, and we can limit corruption.

    5. No platforms presented? There are plenty of platforms presented, repeated endlessly, tirelessly and annoyingly, and all of them have the same theme, " vote for me and i will give you this benefit." Rather than we focus on platforms, we should first focus on the very foundations that make this society possible, principles.

    6. Rampant of vote buying because this is a numbers game and the power of assuming a government position is highly profitable. Limit the powers of government, and the opportunists will be turned off by the lack of leverage government position will have in their pursuit of their self interest.

There's something I don't get. VOTE-BUYING!! Ok, so Candidate 1 gives me money if I "promise" him/her my vote. Thanks, BTW. . . What if I vote for Candidate 2?? How would they know that I reneged on my "promise"??

    How exactly does that work?

And yeah, I'm serious. Because I can honestly say that if I receive money from any candidate, I would have no problem voting for the other one and get away with it.

By authority,by force, and by being wily
is how they indulge themselves into politics.
Through this everything sums up into violence,
and surely be the victors are always the alpha kinds when it comes
    to these malignant deeds.
