dili man na nila all the time 100% ma detect tanan .. depende sa size cguro sa "meteor", im sure wala to nila gi allow, unpredicted lang cguro. Defence sa meteor and such? it depends.. if capable ba ta mo defensa if mga give and take 500m size na meteor.. simbako lang pod... but for now I doubt.

I remember that the US had this "Star Wars Missile Defense System" plan before. They say its mission is to stop nukes and asteroids. It was Ronald Reagan's time if I'm not mistaken though. They could revive that.

so if ato ibutang ilang findings nga a few years given mahitabo ug balik ang asteriod hit phenomenon. dili pud siguro layo nga katong asteroid nga naka wipeout sa dinosaur would one day reoccur and hit the earth? possible ba?
naa jud asteroid nga dako nga padulong sa Earth brad. iyang name kay "Apophis" 400 meters iyang diameter. base sa calculations mu flyby siya sa Earth inig 2029 unya mu hit inig 2036. Kung dili ni nila ma intercept iyang trajectory the result would be catastrophic.

It won't hit the earth on 2036

Unfortunately, missile defenses are unlikely to be effective against a meteor. Meteors do damage through kinetic energy that is released on impact. Which means that even if the missile was able to intercept the meteor, it would only break up the meteor into multiple fragments with nearly combined destructive force. Missile defenses are designed against incoming warheads, since warhead can't release their energy when broken.

Deflection is right now our best bet against meteors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroid_impact_avoidance

If meteor impact is imminent, I'd assume the world governments would start implementing Assurance contracts to fund a defense system of some sort.
