mods, even some baptists pastors can be called an antichrist, deviating from the true teachings of the bible. waht i mean daghan mga angle nga pwede natong ma point to someone if he is really the one depicted in the bible, thats why it is a subject for discussion. as i told before, there is also Lord Maitreya for the new agers as the one who will save the world....an antichrist. wala ko mag-ingon explicitly that the POPE is the ANTICHRIST!

To me it was a last-ditch attempt by the emperor to keep his subjects together and with it, the empire altogether.

Constantine was still Roman and in his time, the RCC has been a dominant figure in the empire. When he set out to build the New Rome in Byzantium he knew that he will have to do with a state religion as an added scaffolding to keep the new Byzantine Empire, to motivate attempts to reclaim the old lands west of the Bosphorus and to the reclamation of the lands east of the Bosphorus (the Crusades to Jerusalem). The Byzantine Empire was merely and extension of the old Roman Empire; even the Holy Roman Empire later on which is neither holy nor Roman.
we can all respect what you think bro, kay imuha man pud nang point of view

the Roman empire might have grown weak at that time, while Christianity is rising into fame
but it doesn't change the fact that one of the major reasons Christianity became famous
aside from what they preach, is that Christians were generally martyrd under the Roman Empire
what would Constantine could have gained from siding with a religion that has been made famous through martrydom by the Empire(Roman) he currently reign as emperor?

and if ever, Constantine embraced Chrsitianity as a political move, then it's between him and the Lord
and i don't see any reason how does that discredit what Catholicism/Christianity is trying to preach.

you may wanna read the actual teachings of the Church(catechism) or study about the letters of the Apostolic Fathers
and see for yourself if there was anything political on them.

the Roman Catholic Church will always be instituted with or without the convertion of Constantine
however his convertion greately helped the Roman Church or Catholcisim/Christianity in general as it was the start of religious tolerance in Rome
Christianity did not only get the benefit, pagans and others as well..

Catholicism( the whole group of believers in Christ)or Christianity was a Lowly(oppressed and members were even hundted) faith back then
If Constantine were to use a Religion for Political gain, then He would have converted with Judaism or stayed with paganism.

OT: But that's where you usually go. You've done that before.

You know, the best thing is just not to bash, assume nor accuse and all will be well. Anyway, let's bring this thread back to the topic of RCC questions.

Kay ako mismo naa sad ko pangutana though it's more on historical but RCC related. Katong ngano duha ka big churches ga tupad. Ang basilica ug cathedral. Since I noticed it's usually one old church then the municipio so I was wondering ngano duha sila. Was it because the cathedral was built when cebu became a diocese? I was really wondering. Nalubong nalang dyud akoa question. hahaha..

The New Order (German: Neuordnung) or the New Order of Europe (German: Neuordnung Europas) was the political order which Nazi Germany wanted to impose on Europe, and eventually the rest of the world. The establishment of the New Order was already begun long before the start of World War II, but was publicly proclaimed by Adolf Hitler in 1941

Nganu man ang Church grabe kaauyo ug prejudice ug kusog pa mo label ug term. Example, TEAM PATAY (RH BILL). Di ba sakit man pod alang sa pro-rh? Kung kita kuno musolti, Ang Church TEAM BOTOL? Ok ba?

Why not use the Basilica instead? I know both were built by the Augustinians .
This is interesting bro.... i think the Minor Basilica was originally dedicated as a convent church, and not an episcopal seat, although Cebu's first Bishop is an Augustinian...

Also, the Pope in Rome at that time has elevated Cebu into a suffragan diocese, an entity independent from the already-established Augustinian order which owns the Basilica Minore. Since it is a separate entity which has the mission to govern a very large area that includes whole Visayas, Mindanao, and even a part of the US! (Guam), it deserves a Church of its own as a proper episcopal see.

The Basilica also served as the temporary episcopal see while the Metropolitan Cathedral is being constructed.

    Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

    Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu

Ah.. I see. Great. What made me confused was because of the first Bishop being Augustinian.

Is this also the case in Manila? The San Augustin Church and the Manila Cathedral? I have been to San Augustin once but I forgot how far it was from the Cathedral.

Personally, I wont agree on name calling bro.

However, ayaw lang pag generalize "the Church" .... Cebu Archdiocese for example did not post the tarps. Rather it was the prerogative of the local bishops in Negros and everywhere else.
