XCOM delayed between one and 12 months - PCgamer.com
Take-Two announced today that XCOM, which was projected for a March release, has been delayed until fiscal 2013. For those of you who don’t speak Accountant, that’s sometime between April 2012 and March of 2013.
Take-Two did not explain the delay, and it could be that it wants XCOM to get some distance from its other early 2012 shooters, The Darkness II and Max Payne 3. Or perhaps they want to avoid Mass Effect 3. Or aliens did it.
But I think we’ve overlooked the most obvious explanation. Take-Two heard that the Xenonauts is back on track, and is afraid of stepping into the ring with it. When the kids learn that only one game is going to bring the X-COM’s legendary turn-based tactical combat, it’s curtains for the un-hyphenated pretender!
Although, maybe Take-Two isn’t that worried.
after months of radio silence about this game, finally something....

The XCOM shooter spinoff may no longer carry XCOM brand – rumor | VG247
Internet wizard Superannuation today made a new post, and the highlight, probably, involves the shooter version of XCOM that has been in development at 2K Marin for a while now. We haven’t seen any updates on that title in a long time, and Superannuation’s data suggests it might be because they’re dropping the XCOM brand from the game.
Here is what he writes: “Last week, Take-Two registered the domains thebureau-game.com, thebureau-game.net, whathappenedin62.com, and whathappenedin62.net. These domains seem to hint at a rebranding of 2K’s beleaguered XCOM shooter, which places players in the shoes of an FBI agent in 1962.”
That’d certainly be an interesting twist, seeing as how XCOM: Enemy Unknown was at least a critical hit (we don’t know how many copies were sold) and so the brand is doing well right now. And you know how those video game companies love branding. Maybe we’ll here more about this title this week at GDC or in a couple months at E3.
Rumor: Viral video teases XCOM shooter | PIXEL ENEMY
Yesterday, we reported on a rumor that XCOM will be re-announced sometime soon. A video popped up on YouTube that adds gasoline to the fire that is XCOM.
This video plays off the Russian meteor crash as a hoax, but before you jump on this with pitchforks and machetes, know that Shack News did some digging around. It found out that the source code page reveals the keyword “whathappenedin62.” This would not be notable if it was not for the fact that it is a domain name 2K recently registered.
In addition, the account name that uploaded the video is “Veritas MCMLXII,” which, in Latin, means “Truth 1962.” I don’t know about you, but this is some awesome marketing for a game thatdisappeared from the Internet. You can see the video for yourself down below.
"Two things. First, the username. Veritas = Truth in greek, and MCMLXII is the roman numeral for 1962, the time the XCOM FPS was set in. There's also a tag in the source code 'Whathappenedin62', which is speculated to be related to whatever they're doing with the FPS." - arinosmirc, youtube commenter
