for guys, at least show them how capable you are, if not financially, at least literally.
most parents are impressed when you could ride-on to smart interesting topics (current events is one). Money isn't everything really.. well having a lil' cash would be an added point but it doesn't really sum things up.
Lets put the question this way, "if i were a parent what would impress me?.. " then that would be the answer.
