can a router, balance an internet network load?

if for instance i have 2 computers and both are connected to the router, the router is connected to internet, the internet broadband speed is 512 kbps, will both the computers have 256 kbps internet broadband speed?

or do i have to buy a load balancing router? to make both computers run on 256 kbps of internet broadband speed.

i think there are bandwidth management softwares out there like netlimiter.

I don't really know about networking stuff but why don't you try bandwidth management software before you spend a penny on buying hardware stuff besides it's only a small network setup (only 2 computers). So, I'd try to recommend you netlimiter or other stuff if you find one. You can just google them anyway.

im just curios, do u really have to split the bandwith at the center like 50/50? if so, why? do u have special applications that need to run at 256kbps?
