Yeah the DS can play Mp3 but only upto 128kbps quality. any higher than that then it gets choppy.
Videos too but a bit choppy.

that depends on your player bai.. i have the play-yan micro, i can play 256kbps quality, basta nindot ang earphones, tin-aw kaayo iyang quality.. the play-yan micro has its own slot for the earphones.. and the video i can set to highest quality, tin-aw pud kaayo. highest quality is a 30-40 min eps at 220mb sa iyang resolution sa ds, mura na ni divx na 300mb hi res dvd ripped. i used the panasonic software, licensed for conversion.

Im quite disappointed with the mp3 and video quality using M3. I have bought P1,500 Philips earplugs just to improve the quality but sadly still choppy for Mp3. I never bothered to play videos.
But it doesnt mean that DS sucks generally basically when it comes to nintendo its synonimous with Solid games and it wont disappoint any owners.

In regards with the play-yan can it play games as well or its just a multimedia player?

hehehe.. sorry to hear ur disappointment bro.. yeah, m3 dili kaayo nindot iyang quality sa music maski unsa ka nindot imong mp3.. ang video usahay mu-skip ug frame, mabantayan jud, kay ang sounds mu-skip man pud.. pero pyts na lng kay maview.

ang play-yan micro, tops jud sa quality.. dedicated media player man gud.. cant play games.. pro skinnable iyang gui, (although 2 skins ra ako nakit-an so far, dont know how to make one, murag wa sila nagpublish ug skin maker na program..) unya ma-configure nimo to a high degree iyang multimedia settings, like bass, stereo surround, brightness, play-modes.

nice jud ang play-yan micro for multimedia, maka-compete na xa sa psp in terms of quality.. (except for the lcd resolution i suppose).. and bought it at 5k yen, or mga 2.3K pesos.
