Giving a good impression to your partner's folks
is a common misconception among peeps.
It's rather fake to me and not showing the real
    person that you are... Entoses,

    It's all for show.

Parents however appreciate the partner of their
child if they are respectful to the elders, truthful
and who actually "talk" to the rest of the family.

You don't have to brag who you are or what you
do for a living. You don't even have to bring lavish
gifts for them to love you. Just be yourself and be
sincere to them. Parents always have a gift of spotting
someone who's true to their child or not.
