Ganahan unta ko try ug gamit aning Ubuntu (I have like 10 Ubuntu CDs here) pero guol lang ko kay basin daghan sa apps akong ginagamit ron kay dili compatible ani nga OS.

Unsa na klaseng apps na imong ginagamit?

First, kung naa ba na siya for Linux port (i.e. firefox).
Second, try it kung mo run na siya using wine http://www.winehq.org/

Kanang mga P2P, bittorrent clients, Nero, Photoshop, games like Sims 2 and stuff like that. This is a family computer so dili kayo ko kabuot on which programs tangtangon

Kung P2P and Bittorent clients (i.e. Azureus or utorrent http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:F...ent_under_wine) imong gamiton i think daghan na siya na alternatives.
Naa pud Linux version ang Nero. Try NeroLinux http://www.nero.com/eng/NeroLINUX.html or much better ang k3b http://k3b.plainblack.com/.
Photoshop u try gimp http://www.gimp.org/.

Kung mag-games ka, I think you should do wine.

Reason for using linux: Many repositories for specialized apps (programming, scientific apps etc). And my internet is faster on linux (tcp tweakd) than on windows (also tcp tweakd)

Use a distro that appeals to u then slowly adjust to it by using it everyday. wine for all other windoze apps that u need. Like warcraft... eheh. Depende ra jud sa tau unsa iya gusto.

i have tried using ubuntu..nindut sad ni nga OS..ang prob lang kay gamay ra ang supported nga mga games..

Like they say, use GNU/Linux for real work...
