i3 is undeniably faster in single threaded apps.But if you're doing heavy multitasking....I think, i3 will choke faster than the 960T
But i don't think you're playing a game,converting a movie file,playing an mp3 and winzipping files while browsing the web on multiples tabs at the same time..... so i3 is fine

Save your money for a video card upgrade..
or an ssd
or surround speakers
or a network media player/NAS

Exactly my point... you'd be exchanging your quadcores for dualcores with an i3 3220 and you'd be more or less on the same stage with an A10 but much better because you have a 6790.. A10's integrated graphics is out of the question..

If you need a realistic upgrade, go for a Core i7 ivy or at least an AMD Hexacore Piledriver... Upgrades should be at least several notches higher than your current setup... you can still play games and do productivity works no problem~!!!!
