I went Vegan for about 4 to 5 months a while back. This was right after I read Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Diet and Jonathan Safran Foer's Eating Animals. The first 2 weeks were extremely hard. It got better after a while. I was getting the hang of it pero didto ra jud nadaut when we had a party unya nag Filipino style pork barbecue mi. Sus, perte man jud humota oi. Na tental jud ko. Anyway, I just saw the documentary Forks Over Knives, and I've been slowly incorporating more veggies and fruits in my diet. Eventually, I hope to be full-blown Vegan, and I hope it sticks this time.

ahahahha. tama boss nzo, DMD man sad gyud naku....at first naglisud ko ug let go kay kahbaw naka, dili ma deny, ang anabolic effects sa red meat and dairy. But later on i came to realize nga allergic man akong dugo to those certain kinds of foods. allergic in sense nga magsige ug gawas akong allergic rhinitis. day in day out cge ko sneeze and runny nose. at first gyud dili kaau ko mutoo kay deep in my heart dili pud ko maka let go sa red meat. sa gamay paku kusog kaau ko mukaon pero na notice naku nga lampayatot ug masakiton gihapon ko, later in life na naku na realize nga maglisud gyud diay metabolize akong lawas ug akong dugo sa red meat and dairy! i had to make sacrifices for myself para sa akong kaayuhan... hinoun dili man pud ingun nga dili na gyud ko mukaon! kalami ra ana ah! pero as much possible maglikay nalang gyud ko. dili bya lalim magsige kaon ug isda ug gulay oie pero kadugayan mura maanad nman lang ka.

in short, im 2% healthier than before..haha, but smaller and less stronger than used to be...wala koy choice but to start everything from scratch...and i think this is the best part in this "iron" journey is how u stood back up again...

    revive this thread!

where can we buy vegetarian/vegan options here in Cebu? There are quite a few--healthy options, rustan's supermarket and metro ayala supermarket. These 3 are my go-to places when buying veggie stuff. Any additions?

Fave restos include canvass, kublai khan, krua thai/siam, persian palate, red kimono and lemongrass because they serve a number of veggie dishes. Where else do you go to?

    ..

in my own belief, the idea of being a vegan revolves around the fact the we also have to consume raw or natural foods that really comes from the "earth". As much as possible, we have to eliminate all kinds of processed foods or foods that especially comes from the shelves (preservatives). what i noticed eating in restaurants is the hidden sources of sugar and high sodium content of foods...

sahay sa mga restos they put a lot of "MSG" in their foods just to make it taste good, mouth watering, and etc... and to become a vegan, or any type of vegan, ull find out later on that "preparing ur own meals" is the surefire way to ensure that what u are eating are natural and cooked in the best way in order for the nutrients of the food to be preserved as much as possible.

and this is the hardest part ..preparing ur own DAMN meals!lol!

darn, sahay diri gyud ko mahagbong!
