News: Phantom Pain evidence grows: Fox Engine, GDC reveal confirmed - ComputerAndVideoGames.com The clearest evidence yet has linked the mysterious Phantom Pain project to Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear series, via an interview with the game's spokesperson.
The Phantom Pain was originally unveiled at the 2012 Spike VGAs in December and is attributed to the elusive Swedish studio Moby Dick, which has developed no prior titles. Now GameTrailers TV has managed to track down the studio's even more mysterious CEO Joakim Mogren, who has been strongly rumoured to actually be Kojima himself (his first name being an anagram).
During the incredibly odd video Q&A, the heavily bandaged supposed boss confirmed that a new Phantom Pain trailer will be shown at GDC later this month, and that it will "answer all of your questions" Metal Gear Solid designer Kojima is also set to hold a lengthy lecture at GDC on March 27.
Even more revealing were a set of new screenshots Mogren showed host Geoff Keighley, some of which featured the logo of Fox Engine - Kojima Productions' next-gen engine behind Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
Due to the numerous clues in the debut trailer (analysed here), it's long been believed that Phantom Pain could be tied into Konami's Metal Gear franchise.
So far Phantom Pain has been confirmed for Xbox 360 and PS3 and in his GT interview Mogren said he "cannot confirm" a next-gen release for the title. Kojima's 90 minute 'Photorealism through the eyes of a Fox' GDC session is set to take place on Wednesday, March 27 at 11am PT / 6pm GMT.
