They thought forming institutions like the U.N. would prevent another global war. They also thought the League of Nations would guarantee peace in the 30s...look how that turned out. It will happen more or less, as long as there is a conflict of ideology, and the resources are scarce. It only takes a small spark to engulf the world in flames.

the league of nations did not function well and no clear hierarchy and structure, also no clear assignment of responsibilities per committee,
the UN is different,
Also
unless the permanent members of the security council declare war against its other (note that there are only 5 permanent members of the council) then the outbreak of war is possible, else diplomacy will rule the land always.

one more thing, before the second world war, many countries were ruled by dictators and absolute monarchs(ex: empire of japan), after the world war this has all changed, even sa middle east, people started throwing their dictators out of power na these days.

so what happen during WW2, the settings, the environment is far different from what we have now.
so another world war is a long shot.

almost everyone in the planet can feel the tension between US and China,
and tensions are also building up between China and Japan,
why cant they (inc. Philippines) resolve disputes with diplomacy? e.g. Scarborough , Sabah claims,
China is up to no good and Russia seems to be the same,
our world is lucky that US is military powerhouse that seemed to be a balancing factor against the two countries mentioned,
also having Japan, UK, France, Australia, Netherlands, Israel, SK and New Zealand being very close allies with US is doing us all a good favor to counter balance crazy countries like Russia and China, rogue countries like NK, Iran, etc.

this is one example, since both china and US are members of the Security council, a war between the two is possible BUT
it will NOT escalate into world war,
the worst that can happen is, only countries alied with US will join the war, but not the entire world. so again World war is a long shot (world war man pd atu topic_.

Pero I don't think US will compromise its own trade relation with china just because of islands not thiers.
and nope, Russia is NOT an allied with China and they are not what you define as a "crazy country", this isn't the 60s, they are not a communist state na,
yup NK and Iran might help against US, but the fact that both countries own nuclear weapons, that fact alone! we can presume/conclude that one superpower will not make a single move of invasion or war against any member of the security council... its a suicide.

This is only my opinion, pero china hasn't proven themselves yet on how clever they are in military battles. They have population, they have resources to back it up, pero the question is the skills and experience in this modern warfare... It's a no brainer that US still holds the most sophisticated armaments and equipment to combat any that would disgrace their sovereignty... The time China & North korea do have enough firepower, I guess US do have more than enough that time to crush them...

Although, usa ra jud kontra sa US... Guerrilla warfare ra jud.. Somalia, Vietnam, Irag & Afghanistan to name a few... Pero in terms of Air, Naval superiority, I don't think makaya sa China ang US...

North Korea? Never mind... Ulo ray gadako sa anak... Padulaon na lang nato na ug basketball rather than risking the lives of their starving country men...
