you're right, the Philippines actually has a very well-founded claim on Eastern Sabah... The problem is the government has neglected the claim for too long that it virtually holds no weight. At one point the Philippines was actually a formidable entity to Malaysia, and the Philippine claim could have been legitimized then--that time has passed.

This the same as the issue in Spratly's and Panatag. The government makes claims but does not follow it up. The major cause being that there is no continuity between administrations, or that there is no focus among Philippine leadership--they are too concerned about petty things that does not include strengthening Philippine sovereignty among its claims.

I actually want the government to grow some balls and take territories that are rightfully ours. Well, that's my opinion. Anyway, this situation is damn if you do and damn if you don't. If the government sides with the claimants then there is a big possibility that we will have war with Malaysia. If the government will ignore the claimants then there will be a big problem in Mindanao. Hell, this old Sabah issue started all those Mindanao rebel groups.

they have filed a protest and claim to the world court, the process was slow until now there is no decision. to the effect some sort of evading the issue. thats why marcos created the jabidah group training in corregidor. problem lang duna infiltrator mao na na expose. we cant blame the sulo sultanate if they will by themselves to claim or start the arm conflit. maybe they are even more armed than the AFP !
its up to the phil govt to side or not. but morally and constitutionally if they muslim will start a war the phil govt will be drag into it.

The reason Malaysians are so supportive of MILF/MNLF-RP peace talks is because they know for a fact what kind of animals our Filipino muslims are. They do not want our brand of Moro culture spreading over to their peaceful territories. Haha look at the Malaysians witnessing first hand how our Moros are now doing what they are really good at
