@ trueblood, naa koy link i post this is regarding violence in the Old Testament.
dili lang kaayo ta magdebate diri nga thread kay this is a thread for RCC questions
to be fair with you, i think this link might give you insights about your first question regarding Old Testament violence if not answers..

this link may not officially be the RCC stand towards OT violence but i think every Christian would agree with this.
before we brand God of something else 'cause He did this and that,
Let us remember that He alone knows and sees all things and if we question something infinite using our finite minds
we will never be able to reconcile something..

i think we all have gone through tough times in our lives
where at one time we detest a certain situation or situations but years after thanking the odds for going through them
for in those situation we became somewhat a better person..these situations are best known as "blessings in disguise"

with our finite wisdom, we would have never allowed ourselves to go through tough times
but all the while through God's infinite wisdom, through tough times we will become stronger.

since we do not possess infinite knowledge about things
who knows, death would have been the only way for salvation.

pro sir if ang gusto jud sa ginoo is ang salvation sa mga tao/ na maluwas cla then why would an omnipotent being make a book that was edited countless of times as a evidence for his existence? even ang mga tao cant decide which religion to follow islam, christianity etc. even ang christianity daghan kaau ug denomination. dont get me wrong bai i would change my stance about a creator if there is a concrete/scientific eveidence about him.

asa naman ang FAITH ana kung naa nay concrete/physical evidence about him ? mao bitaw tuyo sa salvation nato atong faith, kung motoo ba gyud ka bisag wala kay physical evidence.

i posted this sa pikas thread "the idea that god punish for the way he made him. why make him in the first place? he is omniscient right? that you will be tortured forever for not believing in him even if unsa pa ka ka bo.otan. but will forgive rapist, serial killers, mass murderers as long as you seek salvation." this is really disturbing katong nitoo pako.

imagine this situation naa kay anak na rape then and nang rape niya is known a serial killer and rapist but since he seeked for salvation malangit tong taohana then nagkita mu sa heaven ikaw, imu anak and ang rapist. and i know a lot of good people who does charitable work who doesnt believe in a GOD then according to christianity "He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus"2 Thessalonians 1:8 NIV
