Manny Pacquiao for congressman
By: Manuel L. Morato
UNCENSORED
I am wholly in favor of Manny Pacquiao running for Congress.
Also I sincerely hope he wins on May 14!
There are those who say that he should not; that he should stick to his boxing career; that Congress is not the place for a person like him who is not prepared for the job.
Well, this is what I have to say: Napapaiba ang sitwasyon ni Pacquiao. Unang-una, he has given this country great honors that all the congressmen and senators put together can only dream of. On the other hand, our congressmen such as Escudero, Cayetano and their ilk have only managed to turn the halls of Congress into a child’s playground with their kaartehan.
Manny Pacquiao is streetsmart. Being a self-made man he is unlike our congressmen and senators who’ve enriched themselves in office. Unlike their kind, Manny is coming in with clean hands and clean money. We all know how our congressmen and senators have piled up money for themselves while in office and made business of their positions, tax-free.
That’s not the case with Manny Pacquiao. He has worked hard for his money; and how! – He achieved his goal through great sacrifice and inflicted pains.
Pacquiao has become a symbol of unity to a very disunited people. Thus, his mere presence in Congress might as well serve as a catalyst to unite our divided congressmen.
I do not know Manny Pacquiao at all. All I know about him came from Director Carlo Caparas and his wife, Donna Villa. Of course, my perception of him is also based on my keen observation of the person on television.
All told, for all I care, Manny Pacquiao can just sit quietly in Congress. His presence alone can have a sobering effect on that place. Pag may nanggulo, pasuntok na lang natin kay Pacquiao. Ang daming magugulo sa Congress. We need a “bouncer” to make them toe the line! Sakupin na rin sana ni Pacquiao ang Senado!! Ganyan lang natin mapapatino ang mga maiingay na politicians natin.
Pacquiao is a practical person. He never did anything to destabilize the duly constituted government and always called for sobriety, unlike the oppositionists who have really dragged this country down the drain. Hindi na sila nahiyang wasakin ang reputasyon ng ating bayan at pagkatao nating mga Pilipino, exactly the opposite of what Pacquiao did for the Motherland.
If Darlene cheered in GenSan for Pacquiao, did she have a choice? Not to have shown herself in that crowd would have been more fatal for her. She, too, had benefited from the exposure, after all! Pretending to be a good sport helped her.
But Darlene has to go. The likes of Manny Pacquiao is what GenSan needs – practical, matulungin, a doer who feels the heartbeat of his people.
Sorry, Darlene. I know your grandmother, Magnolia, very well. I know your father, Rod, well. Pero nainis ako sa iyong behavior sa Congress and the characters you hang around with in there. You were like rats following a Pied Piper. You, Escudero, Villanueva, Cayetano and the others in your group were just too much to take. Antipatiko talaga ang dating ninyo sa publiko with all your senseless maneuverings.
At your young age, it’s best for you to be a mother to your children for a change.

if they're really willing to serve and they've got what it takes to be in politics, why not? anybody can be in politics as long as they serve people. if they have the qualities to serve people. mao ra na
