btw, this is the same thing russia did with the people who protested inside a chuch there. are we following russia's example? if so, good role model!

pussssy riot in russia = sentenced to 2 years
carlos celdran = 2 months xx days..

wel i dont care about russia because they have their own laws. here in the philippines, we follow philippine law. and as far as i know our country is one of the most vibrant democracies in asia.

im no pundit, so what should be the right penalty then?
In my opinion only the HOLY ghost...I mean the complainant can answer that...if they will refuse to continue the case and give the poor boy a second chance then no more noise to be heard after all they were all teaching humility.

It became sensational because the word "DAMASO" resembles their dark past or I may say dark side.

The church's lackeys don't help the situation at all with these weak defenses.

Secularism is needed to fight against the growing malice of religious fundamentalism. The argument used by the fanatics is a slippery slope. If he should be punished for offending religious feelings whats to stop someone from closing down churches because their sermons offends non-believers feelings? You can't have your freedom while taking away someone elses. sine qua non
there is no question about someone's "freedom of expression" in this context. he can express his sentiments all he wants, as long as it is done in a place that is appropriate. again, you don't go into someone's house and "express" yourself in a way that offends it's master.

the idea being discussed here is not the church's proliferation of religious fundamentalism. i have bones to pick with the church about it, but that is for another discussion. what is relevant here is the church acquiring what relief is provided for them according to law and whether or not the accused stands guilty as charged. whatever punishment he may receive from being charged cannot be changed unless this constitution of ours will be changed (i am an advocate for the complete re-writing of the said constitution).

what's stopping non-believers from suing churches if priests / religious leaders force themselves into said non-believers' houses bringing placards saying "burn in hell"? by all means, sue them and let the slugfest begin. as long as religious practices are practiced inside the property of a religion's church, i have no qualms about it. if they start going inside my house without my permission and expressing their religious freedom there, then i am well within my rights (and anyone else should also be within theirs) to force them outside and seek for legal relief.
