This makes me sad as a devout RC. The church is one big sellout from the pedophilia scare of the last decade to the Vatican Bank scandal. I try hard not revert back to agnosticism but news like this is not helping.

Should the finances of the church be threatened I would be the least surprised if for an amount its hierarchy declares as dogma that there is only one God and Allah is His name.

Legally speaking, I would have to agree with the defense lawyer's argument. We have a somewhat similar law regarding the recognition of the juridical personality of a fetus

I'm sure the widower can be awarded his claim if his lawyer can prove negligence or any malpractice by the hospital and or doctors which led to the "wrongful deaths" of his loved ones. My prayers are with this guy and his lost family members.
How I wish estoppel could be a remedy availed for by the father. The church should be estopped from claiming a position it has so vehemently gone against explicitly. If only the father could speak for his unborn children.

This argument might just work in their SC.

Ang ila arguement is based on their "Law".
Diri sa ato nasud, lahi ato law,
Our law, if I am not mistake, recognizes that life begins at conception.
That is why, abortion is illegal.
And that is why also nga kana mga discussions to legalize abortion would not easily prosper because our Constitution mandates us to protect even the unborn child.

How far reaching the state law in Colorado that says life begins at birth remains unclear at this point. There's a reason the case is being brought to the Supreme Court to decide.

The widower might have an argument in the basis of separation of church and state. But again, how strong his case is will have to be determined by the high court in Colorado.

Is the RCC being hypocrites? Yes. We can defend the Church all day but history won't agree. The Church is known for keeping mum when faced with legal threats. It's a surprise the hospital is taking action, going against century-old teachings because someone who lost "three" people decides to f*ck them in their behinds. He saw a good opportunity. He saw the vulnerability of the Church and he made them swallow their own vomit.

It's a legal proceeding based on state laws,
    they are being sued,
thus the law of God is not based.

We have to understand also and just let history itself and time immemorial speak, RCC is the target by everyone of varied reasons . Did you know almost half of the LAWSUITS against certain RCC diocese are because its the MILKING COWS of desperate people are confirmed and validated ?

    Again .... another UNBLOODY PERSECUTION.
