CPU is an intel E6600 running @3 GHz (stock) w/ an Asus mobo, Deep cool gamma wave aftermarket cooling system, DVD writer, 1x320 GB WD HDD and an 8GB kingston hyperX ram modules...

anyway, allow me to share again...

^ gamay ra gyud kaayo bro... it's a fact... hehehe... usahay man lagi, ma carried away ta's basa2x sa comments sa uban ug reviews from the official sites... usually, naa'y uban na magub-an ug PSU then the big contributor kay ang kuryente from the mains... pwerte man mo fluctuate... bisan high end PSU pa ang gamiton then wala'y protector na maka best protect sa system on the electrical condition sa affected na lugar, patay gihapon ang PSU... but we don't know when or mamatay ba gyud pud or lain components sa rig ang ma affected... or, lemon unit lang gyud ang na palit sa user... not all products are 100% good man dba, maong naa'y warranty na gihatag ang manufacturing company. naa man "Producer's risk ug Consumer's risk"...

anyway, kun naa ma shell out na more money ang owner/buyer, then why not. after all, its your hard earned money or gift from the parents (sila ang nag hard work ani)... sayang lang sya if ever, dili ma utilize sa lain butang... "dili raba sayon mangita'g money"... naa man gyud hinoon exemption sa ni na statement kay naa man mga gihatagan ug grasya kun kwarta na hisgotan...

kun in purchasing those brands & models of the PSU can bring relief to the owner/buyer, then why not also, dba? again, as i've said... "Let's pick our own poison"... in this hobby... hehehe

on my own rig, i use a "branded" 80+ 500W PSU... actually, my personal rig, of which i am 100% sure, draws less than 195W... but I did buy a true rated PSU, not because i was craving for the "true rated" badge it came with but for the quality of the components that is in it, the workmanship put into it and also the peace of mind that goes with it being assured that my investment (my cheapo rig) is well protected...

I said some rigs don't need high psu ratings at all.
If you're using a gtx 670 - 690 with a highend cpu sure why not. But I've seen people with micro atx boards on big atx casing with expensive psu that they use as an htpc. Well that's their money, but the stupidity is hard to ignore.
People shouldn't buy into advertising like those people that buy gadgets to reduce electricity at SM. Its all business like what PC ads are all about.
Take the time to do the math. Compute the load. As an ex-architect I did electrical load schedules, etc. Do you even know how to compute watts?
I am one of those people who has a micro ATX board strapped onto a big atx casing (at least for me it's big compared to an HTPC) which have expensive PSUs (3000 may not sound much to you but to me it is)... I bought a SILVERSTONE PSU to power my cheap rig and I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS A STUPID INVESTMENT .... Sure my PC draws only a portion of what the PSU can supply but can you say that it is stupidity if I just want to make sure that what I spent in buying my M-ATX board, my processor, my video card, my RAMS, my HDD and my ODD will not just go down in flames? That's my hard earned money damnit and I am going to do all that I can to protect it... Wattage isn't everything! there are a lot more things to consider when choosing the right PSU...

You can actually keep your PSU 5years+. Hence the reason why it is more logical to choose more than your computer's power needs. You may upgrade your vc or do sli/crossfire. Or overclock. At least you are assured of high quality components and extra amount of wattage. Much more convenient than selling your psu again because you go with enough than extra to tend to your upgrade needs.

    @ TS,

input lang ni akoa ha... naa ron mga "Green PSUs"... maayo ni sila kay gamay kaon ug kuryente compared sa normal PSUs (of the same wattage) even on high rated efficiency ones basta dili lang Green model... kita ko dri'g Pc Cooler Q7 (model TU550W)... rated @ 400W then peak @ 500W... lami kaayo ug stanby power consumption... > 1W lang... then efficiency is 82% @ full load (83% @ typical load)... nindot ni para saving sa electricity bill... planned to buy one para magamit sa extra old rig diri... akoa man ni sya'ng i-set up ug NAS...

basin naa'y "Green model" sa mga sipa na brands na mao'y preferred sa kadaghanan... check these Green ones if ever naa'y available sa local PC shops or online shops dha sa pinas...

^I wonder pila kaha iya efficiency at idle? Dili ba gud insifnificant ang 1w nga standby? Most efficient processor alone consumes what 2 watts?

^ sa PSU na rating ra ning < 1 W at idle bro... dili ni sya sa over-all system... mas better naa ta'y Watt meter para ma check ang rig at idle and full load sa power consumption nya from the outlet gyud... naa ko'y nakit-an dri, kaso, mahal man... hehehe... dha lang unya ko mangita sa cebu...

regarding sa "Green certification" bah, naa man gyud ni sa semicon & electronics industry. requirement ni sya sa mga IC, most specially sa mga Power related ICs... naa man ni sila star rating... ang gamit sa circuit aning mga "Green PSUs" kay higher star rating (higher efficiency rating @ load & lower standby @ idle) components na sila... one of the requirement man gyud ning lower power consumption ron for a better/ideal product...
