there are only 8 planets in the solar system in which everyone from the scientific community can agree upon

those dwarf "planets" are still being debated by different sides of the community if they should even be under the same classification as planets like Mercury, Earth, Venus, etc.

so if you're going to argue with your teachers, you'll only be causing confusion among yourselves

right now according to IAU they've made a distinction for the "Dwarf Planets" (the five) and the "Planets" (the eight)
