One person was reported killed while 480 families were evacuated from their homes in Compostela Valley province in the wake of flash floods there last weekend.
Compostela Valley police chief Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan said the fatality was from Compostela town and died from drowning, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported Monday.
The fatality was not immediately identified, the report said.
In December, Compostela Valley was among the areas hit hardest by Typhoon Pablo (Bopha), which left more than 1,000 dead when it barreled through Mindanao and Visayas.
Also, Cascolan said at least 480 families had been evacuated from their homes due to the flash floods.
He said the families evacuated from their homes included:
- 294 families from Maco town
- 110 families from Mawab town
- 31 families from Monkayo town
- 74 families from Montevista town
- 40 families from Nabunturan town
- 101 families from New Bataan town
- 30 families from Compostela town
The dzBB report said a landslide was reported at Nabunturan on Sunday but there was no casualty recorded.
