Need Advice: Personal blog know hows and all

Hi

I like to create my very own shameless plug unta but I'm not well versed (yet) into this kind of endeavor.

These are my goals in putting up my own site:

- It's primarily a travel blog but might as well tackle culture and cuisine.
- It's relatively free as of the moment (hosting) unta.
- I can customize at will.
- Simple layout



If I were to choose, either sa Wordpress or Blogspot lang. Thing is, I tried but I can't go on because I don't understand some points regarding customization, codes etc.
