LOL firmware downgrade? What does that have to do with activation? Its a corrupted baseband..I bet his 3gs has a 6.15 modem version...by updating it to ios 6 officially..the ipad baseband got corrupted...so the phone won't read any sim card at all...if it was from 6.15, downgraded to 5.13 and was updated by flashing official ios6, then activation would not be a problem but he/she would still have a locked phone. No one in their right mine would factory unlocked a 3gs when there is a free unlock given...unless if the 3gs was made on or after week 28 2011..it has a new baseband chip thats incompatible with 6.15 unlock.

Save yourself some money and the headache of reflashing your 3gs firmware..you might ****ed it up even more..My advice like the first...download REDSNOW and look for some tutorials about flashing ipad baseband.. never ever update an iphone with official firmware unless you know what you are doing

P.S. This is buy n sell section...think about it

Activation is always a problem with locked iPhones. The owner needs to have the carrier sim where the iPhone is locked to, to activate the iPhone. Without it, he/she needs to either have a custom firmware where it is hacktivated or run the latest version of Redsn0w to run a jailbreak and hacktivate it using that method. Both hacktivation method requires a jailbreak and preferably an untethered jailbreak which is not available on iOS 6.

Even if he/she reflashes the iPad Baseband using Redsn0w, it's still a tethered jailbreak on iOS 6 where he/she has to connect her device to the PC everytime it turns off. AND the hacktivated function is not a guarantee that it will work. What if he/she has an iPhone that was made after week 28 of 2011 and he/she decides to flash the iPad Baseband? It will render that device useless. NO baseband, NO IMEI, and it will reboot every 5 minutes.

The best solution he/she can do is downgrade to a lower version where an untethered jailbreak is possible. Use a custom firmware and make it hacktivated, From there, if the baseband is already 6.15 then it is true that the baseband is corrupted because of the official update but he/she can easily reflash the iPad baseband again then unlock it with Ultrasn0w.

Did you even read his problem? "We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time" that means a fried baseband. You don't need to explain to me how to jailbreak an iphone properly, thanks for trying though.

What I'm trying to do is get his phone to read the sim card at least. If the sim is not supported, at least it will say that and that means the phone has a working baseband. Heres the kicker you can actually hacktivate without jailbreak...

I would like to ask you the same, did you? that message could also mean she has a slow internet connection and since it its the baseband, it would be "corrupt" not "fried." I wasn't teaching you how to jailbreak, if you even understand the term.

You already know that he has the 6.15 baseband meaning it's a 98% chance that his phone is locked to a carrier. why would you even try to see if the sim is still supported? It's a waste of time. Do you understand the term "hacktivate" as well? it's synonymous with having a jailbroken device. If you know another way, I don't see you trying to help out the TS by giving her that method. AND again, jailbreak is needed if she has the iPad baseband how else are you going to install ultrasn0w? hopes and dreams?

ofcourse she doesn't have the shsh blobs, she just told you that she bought the phone from an istoryan. BUT there is the chance that the previous seller had it on 5.1.1. ofcourse i want her to downgrade, her iPhone is useless at the moment. What would you have her do? paperweight?

I feel that arguing with you has wasted my time. so.. goodnight.
