i agree with you there. some loyal AI fanatics even said that they won't watch the show anymore if sanjaya continues to stay and much more better contestants will be eliminated just because of a group of people who is out to prove that the worst could win in this contest. and to think that these fanatics have been watching the show since the first season so this could be great loss to AI.

and these so-called AI fanatics are the ones who bring 'credibility' to the show?
would anyone really win the title just by relying on "a group of people's" votes?
if they really are fanatics and that there is a whole bunch of them, they need to prove that by making the contestant with a 'much better' voice move on to the final round. they need to stop whining and start voting.

i'm not a fan of sanjaya. but i like him. that is why i try to support him. this is what each fan ought to do. instead of being too over critical and judgmental, why don't they just support their idol and leave those they don't like alone. i'm not a fan of some of the contestants but i'm not dissing them like they don't deserve to be there. sanjaya was put there by the 3 'credible' judges. that means he has the potential to win.

it is a contest for crying out loud. and it aint over till a winner is proclaimed. what is the point of going through several months of competition, when some people, who consider themselves "experts" have already crowned a victor?

he can carry a tune? for crying out loud, sanjaya malakar is trained in classical music. he can sing better than what he has shown on television. the problem with him is that he usually chokes. he has problems with performance which he is gradually overcoming as the show progresses.

our problem is that instead of concentrating on our idols and supporting them, we keep on attacking the contestants that we don't like. crabbish. crabbish. crabbish. how can we select the best when we keep on looking for the worst?

i like what jennifer lopez said when she performed on the show. she said she likes paula's method better than simon's. she believes that it helps to point out the better aspects of a person's performance. she included that although she does not really abide by simon's ways, the show needs a simon.

the problem is: everybody wants to be a simon nowadays.

actually i have nothing against sanjaya ... my point is if he ever wins, i don't think he is deserving coz there are far more better contestants than him and this is my opinion. i am not an expert in music but it doesn't take an expert to see that compared to melinda, jordin, lakisha, blake or even brandon rogers and AJ tabaldo who were eliminated earlier, sanjaya is vocally inferior. because american idol is first and foremost, a singing competition, then I as a viewer, looks out for the ones whose vocals stand out among the rest and not just mediocre singers who are still in the process of improving their craft. now, if he happens to get more votes due to some stupid campaign, then I think AI's credibility as a search for the best singer here in america will surely be affected and it will evolve as the search for the most popular and controversial performer instead... i just hope that the americans won't let this happen and make things right in the end...

simon's method may be too harsh but i have to admit that it makes the show more entertaining. AI won't be AI without simon cowell.. the contestants themselves know beforehand what they were getting into when they joined so they must be prepared to get some criticisms and bashings from the brutally honest simon... even melinda doolitle wasn't spared from him...

i've read in the VTFW site that they first picked jennifer hudson in season 3 because of her crazy outfits and over the top singing style but it didn't accomplish much coz these "worsters" people are after bad performances so they switched to jon peter lewis. of course, VTFW isn't credible coz their main aim is to make AI a big joke but they sure have lots of followers... this season, they were choosing between haley and sanjaya but they picked sanjaya instead.. here are their reasons:

10. Sanjaya had one OK performance this week, and many many hilarious crazy performances in the past. Haley has never had a crazy performance and has had a few OK performances.

9. Haley's idea of interesting is showing off her legs. Sanjaya's idea of interesting is rocking a ponyhawk and butchering No Doubt songs.

8. Sanjaya's hair hypnotizes us and has us wondering what it can do next week. Haley's hair is... long and boring.

7. Producer Ken Warwick has defended Haley in interviews, saying Simon has been too cruel to her. Ken, on the other hand, says that Sanjaya will not win and seems hell bent on making sure this happens.

6. Sanjaya has fun nicknames like "Sangina". Haley has boring nicknames like "White Bread" because no nickname is boring enough for her.

5. Sanjaya is fun and crazy when he moves around awkwardly on stage. The only reason his performance this week wasn't as awkward was because he was sitting. Haley is never fun, she inspires bathroom breaks.

4. Sanjaya defies gender stereotypes much better than Haley.

3. When Sanjaya is bad, he's oh so bad, and it inspires talk for weeks. When Haley is bad, people just kind of get mildly annoyed and then go back to their bathroom breaks.

2. Sanjaya inspires crowds of little girls to cry as he fumbles around the stage. This produces hilarious results, such as when that crying girl was in the audience. Haley only inspires straight men and lesbians to turn off the TV and play with themselves, which is not hilarious.

1. Sanjaya spouts of hilarious catchphrases like "Welcome to the Universe of Sanjaya" and "You're just jealous because you can't pull it off." Haley speaks sometimes... I think.
