CICC for me is not just a convention center, it now serves as a landmark for cebu ... like a park or a tourist attraction. As an OFW, Cebu definitely needs something identifiable other the usual places we go to visit. When I returned home last February, one of the first things I did was to have my picture taken with the CICC in the background .... something I can show to my friends abroad what a nice building this is ... and true enough, on May 1 (next long vacation) this year, 3 of my office mates here in Singapore will be coming with me as tourist, and definitely one of those places we visit will be the CICC.
When you're thinking about the ROI for 20 years, you are only thinking about the DIRECT return of investment on how the CICC can generate cash, you are not thinking about the INDIRECT revenues that can be generated with the CICC. Why do we build public parks in the first place if it doesn't create revenues?
The CICC was built just last year, how can you expect it to earn right away? I'm not a businessman too, but its expected for businesses to lose for a few months/years before they can gain in the market and turn to profitability.
