basic math problem.. 7 - 4 + 5 x 0 + 1 = ? the answer is 1 ( any number multiplied by zero is zero)
7-4 = 3 plus 5 equals 8 multiplied by 0 equals 0 plus 1 equals 1.

it's 4 not 1. Do the multiplication first.

To simplify:

.. 7 - 4 + 5 x 0 + 1 = ?
= 5 x 0 + 7 - 4 + 1 <---- Multiplication takes precedence over addition and subtraction.
= 0 + 7 - 4 + 1 <-------- Do the subtraction first since it is on the left though it is of the same order as addition.
= 3 + 1
= 4

Start using the PEMDAS method. Parenthesis first, Exponents next, Multiplication/Division next, and Addition/Subtraction last.

In that case "7 - 4 + 5 x 0 + 1 = ?"

Since there's no parenthesis, likewise no exponents. we start off with the multiplication.

7 - 4 + 5 x 0 + 1 = ?
7 - 4 + 0 + 1 = ?
3 + 0 + 1 = ?
4 = 4

The answer is 4.
