because i think jesus was a jew. christianity as a religion did not exist during the time. christianity before was just the followers of christ. not a religion in itself.

    christianity came after.

here's a dilemna for me...if the jews didnt kill christ, then we christians wont be saved...so i guess we should go and thank the jews for killing christ for our salvation...

Jewish people are not by means nearsighted because of their first belief but rather optomistic. They have been slaved form hundreds of years since the egyptian empire down to the romans and their only solution was to have a stronger and a warrior like messiah to deliver them from slavery. Who would want a simple man deliver them from oppression?

Yet, most of us call them the chosen people... would you still believe that?
1st. i dont think its odd that we "non-Jews" found him. Rather, i am grateful that we are given the opportunity to get to know God.

2nd. by nearsighted i mean that because the Good News message, which was meant for the Jews, was rejected by them. Jesus was right in front of them, present during their time here on earth, lived among them, performed miracles on the sick, lame and blind. But they still would not believe Him. If people now believe Him whom we do not see, what a waste for people who saw him and did not believe... dont you think?

3rd. I know they were just following their age old "tradition"..But, we should remember this:

Being optimistic is one thing. But being optimistic and missing the point is a very different matter... right? sayang.

It was a choice they made. Just like Judas chose to betray Jesus.

I may not be thinking of thanking them, but in a way, you might be right...

i agree with Beltrand....di ko motuo nga si Jesus Christ believes in punishment....he is much more than that kind of God....so maong dili na ko mo basa bible etc....kay para nako ako mismo nga "average, normal person" ...dili gani ko ka ako mag huna2 nga naay ma impyerno....how much more ni Kristo who died to save mankind....in my opinion...daghan na gi tuis nga doctrines to serve religions...

my Christ does not preach punishment...He teaches forgiveness....love..acceptance...humility ...kindness etc etc...i can go on and on and on....malagot ko oi sa simbahan nga gulaton na nuon ta nga i-punish kay nakasala...unsa ba...

agree ko off^tangent sa imo first sentence...i could not have said it any better....

To be honest brod, I despised the people who brought these things to us. Why? We've been slaved for over 300 years by the spaniards, there were so many people who died because of indoctrination. A front just to control people and slave people for their own purpose. We've read so many history books about these people who said they came in Good News... Jesus Christ... Spreading Christianity... but at the tip of the swords, spears, arrows and guns. Ironic that the same people who created these things were also slaves. That's one reason Romans called jesus lord or king of the slaves. Don't you wonder why they need a saviour for their grief, sufferings and shattered faith? How may times they were looking for a perfect saviour? Moses, abraham, david, then solomon but they still are slaves by the romans upto jesus's death. Israelites were looking for a sword weilding savior not by words alone. Rabbis were not convinced on his "god-like" being because they were looking for someone else not jesus. Though, we are arguing that even for ourselves didn't know what exactly the reasons why they don't believe in jesus... our only "evidence"? I think you know the answer. Yet, until this present age, majority of the jewish people still believe in their deliverer, Abraham.

...because the Israelites don't think like some of our Pinoy brothers.

that is true. but one thing should also be made clear. The Good News was Good News. The people who used it or mis-used and abused it, are the ones who are guilty.

I hope you will not reject the Good News just because some people decided to used it for their personal gain...

And yes you are right, The Jews are still looking for someone to save and deliver them physically, and not spiritually. That is why they miss Jesus when He came.
