...and upon this rock I will build My "church".*
The operational word here is Church, not churches. Nowhere in the bible will you find this statement again bec. our Blessed Lord spoke only to Peter. The chain of command has never been broken. There were good Popes as well as bad popes. And because the Catholic or in other words "Universal" Church consists of the members of the Broken Body of Christ, not only will you find saints but sinners as well. We continue to celebrate the mystery of the Word Incarnate in mass as well as in the Sacraments just as He commanded bec. He personally experienced our humanity and having a human nature we need to see, hear, touch, smell, etc. hence the Sacraments. I understand that those outside the Church can never fully understand what*goes on in the mass or in the Sacraments but I sincerely believe that no rational explanation nor logical thought could ever make them comprehend its enigma and so I encourage anyone to personally experience it even just out of mere curiosity.

Although the Holy Pope never boasts of the Holy Mother Church as the best church, he recognizes the presence of other churches as also bestowed with some of the graces that the good Lord dispenses especially to the faithful who live lives of righteousness and justice. But just like a whole *bunch of the rarest gemstones, only She has the FULLNESS of Heaven's treasures that man "needs" in order to achieve perfection in and with God.*

It's our Catholic faith. Let's live it!

    Shalom!

    OT:
From experience I've come to realize a lot, if not a few people don't agree with some of the Church's teachings and so they stray. Trying to make it on their own when there could've been lots of available help.
Jesus healed a lot of the broken. But we've oftentimes forgotten the essence of His coming. It's in His name actually. He was also a Saviour. To save us from what? Eternal damnation bec. honestly we all deserve death due to SIN. Only a few think about the devastating effects of sin to our souls. And so we suffer. We all deserve to suffer. HE WAS THE ONE WHO DID NOT DESERVE TO BE IN PAIN. But by His wounds, we are saved.
The late Venerable Fulton Sheen says that the Satanic is simply the "anti-CROSS".
So remember brothers and sisters that whenever we refuse to suffer, become bittered and despaired in our own agonies, in our own crosses, we are refusing the Cross of Christ to which we have a chance at salvation.

    @ slabs and mj
mine is the opposite..i used to hate the church, the religious, and everything else that relates to Church groups and all, i think it even came to a point that i hated God 'cause of hypocrisy hahaha...
but i have come to realize that they're just people too...and i cannot go on as a Christian without being with other Christians...
'cause being a Christian i think we are called to fellowship...
not the eating,outing2x..chicka2x/libak part..hahaha but the real sense of fellowship
where we can practice what Christ said about Loving others...
true, there are Lots of Christian groups who sadly do not mirror Jesus in what they do...
    which is very discouraging...
however we can always look for a better one can't we..hehehe..
plus possible pa jud nga we just misunderstood things...

it's like "no man is an island" thing. i can simply shut the door and not mingle with other believers thinking that all i need is Jesus and at the same time gets lost within my own interpretations and understanding about God's word.
so it's always nice to talk and share with others about our faith..to bless and be blessed.

i think it's also hard to be a Christian and not belong to any Christian group
Jesus would always say about how sheeps would scatter without a shepherd...not necessarily in a direct way though...
    but figuratively.

@ bro noy naa nman tay shepherd...kaila naka kinsa...ako lang gyud likayan nga mandaot ko ug laing demonation...matod pa gud ni paul wala man ta gi baptized sa ngalan sa katoliko, sa born again, or unsa pang denominasyon, kun dili gi bunyagan ta sa ngalan sa Amahan, Anak, ug Espirito Santo.

    1 Corinthians 1:10-17

10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

    14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

OT: Regardless, there can still be unity in diversity.

On point: Now let's get back to Roman Catholic Church questions as what this thread first and foremost proposed.

i see your point slabs, in fact i could not agree more...

of course Jesus is the Shepherd of all Christians...
and yes that surpasses any form of Christian denomination...

and akong point ra man is kung Christiano ta unya kita2x ray maglakaw sa Kristohanong dalan..
with our own perspective, own understanding, own POV...lagmit ma salaag ta...prehas tang jovi unya..hehehe...peace jovs...this is just my POV...i know you can say the same thing about me...so we'll call it even...

anyway, shepherding in the sense that Jesus' disciples nurtured, guided, instructed and helped early Christians in understanding the message of Jesus..like how priest, pastors, church leaders carry the responsibility and accountability of Christ to His church
Like how we talk to our friends about Jesus, like how we let our children know about God...
ing ana nga shepherding akong gi point out slabs.

and not in a way that takes away the glory of Christ Jesus...diha na na mu come in ang occultism.
