Correct me if i'm wrong.
I was with the impression that when you do a "sepra", you start from scratch.

No tabs, no cheat sheets.

Try to play the notes on the guitar of the notes you hear, get the key and its progression and apply your knowledge of the scales (for soloing/lead).
or if one has no guitar theory, then "kapain" mo ang notes nga mopareho sa imong gipaminawan nga song.

Following guitar tabs, i think, is not "sepra".
Sepra is deeper than that.

OT: i have a European friend nga professor ug usa ka University sa gawas. Musician man pud siya and he heard me say the word sepra/sipra and educated me nga it came from the Spanish word "Cifra" which has a number of definitions and one is "tabulature". So kung verb "Cifrar" to tabulate/imu ewrite down ang song using numbers... wala lang. hehe

I use my ears to sipra but I admit, I sometimes use tabulatures. Ang end result kay maka play gihapon ko sa song. But sakto mo. To sipra is to tabulate a song.. with the use of your knowledge about music jud. Scales and stuff.. I use my ears even if dili kaau ko sweto sa theory, scales, ug unsa pa na. Before if murag libog/lisod na e.mano2x naku pangita ang tono. hehe

maka kat.on rman jud ang tao. karon kahibaw na ang uban nga ana diay na ang word nga sipra. hehe

Kahinumdom ko sa 90's nga pila ka adlaw mag sipra sa wolfgang nga kanta. play rewind sa cassette tape. hahahaha i miss the 90s. ningkamot jud ang mga musikista ato.

aw di diay na sepra ng mag tabs no, kalimot ko...

kapoi man gud sepra, sauna kay cassette tape then nag youtube ko sige paminaw... until naka katon ko og read tabs.

adto nalang ko kay mas madali ang process... and mas precise ang pagka kuha or same result if maayo dyud ka mo paminaw.


anyway.. wa kaayo koy alam anang mga music cause I have no musical background o education whatso ever...

OT: I agree with you on this .. there are a lot of definitions jud sa sepra. depende if by the book or how you understand it, pero ingon ana bitaw na sa una wa'y tabs tabs gyud. hehehe
