I was scanning through the television channels earlier today and I came across this trailer on HBO. Made me wonder if it's any good. Anyone here who watches this show? Any thoughts?

I saw Season 1 for this.

The pilot episode was superb. It was the only episode directed by Martin Scorsese and it was a real stunner as an opener for the show. The cinematography, musical score, direction, writing, and editing were all brilliant for a TV series. And of course the acting (by Michael Shannon, Kelly McDonald, Michael Pitt, and Steve Buscemi) were brilliant. Definitely one of the best pilot episodes.

But don't expect anything better from there. It seemed it was going downhill starting at episode 2. The series then turned out to be a lame excuse to showcase nudity, profanity, and violence. The themes include booze, gang war, politics, and vices so they had to write around those elements no matter how boring the show became.

For me lang great premise but the succeeding episodes didn't really live to outperform what Scorsese started.

I will try to watch Season 2 and see if it gets any better. I would recommend this series if only to see the pilot episode.

Ang first episode lang sa akong gidownload. Ehehe! ^_^ I agree with BertR. The pilot one is quite impressive. I fancy the cinematography, the props and every other single detail. But I'm not sure if I'll go on watching the rest of the season kai bitaw, nangutana ko sa ako mga kaila, ana sila boring daw. T_T Oh, well.

i disagree... this show is actually more interesting than most of the rubbish thats out today. if you enjoy a throwback of the prohibition days this a great show watch.
