Default Re: what's the best hair rebonding center here in cebu?

My hair always needs to be rebonded. Here are my experiences:

    887 at Sarrosa - P2000

My hair looked nice and soft, but kinda "buhaghag" since I have thick-volume hair (although fine strand). It lasted longer that I expected. What I like is that they don't ask a lot of questions.

    Coco at Parkmall - P2000

My hair was really "bagsak" and I loved it at first (the first month). Later on it became dry and stringy. To think that I bought their products. 500 mL shampoo, 500 mL conditioner and 500 mL something for protection. I also hate that they say my hair is damaged so they will only use a light formula or just relax. In the end, it doesn't work. I feel like I wasted good money. Korean product is just not hiyang for my hair.

    D'Che on North Road, Mandaue - P1000

Do not try this salon! I admit I was just tempted by the promo price. They would not use the steamer because they said it would damage the hair. In my experience, steaming the hair makes the oil/cellophane seep into the hair and cleanses the scalp, making the hair softer.

I still asked them to use the steamer, even if it damages my hair. A really snotty stylist lectured me on hair care, that those who use steamers don't know anything... yada yada. I agreed just to keep her quiet.

Guess what They damaged my hair! It was so dry and brittle that it fell off. I had a patch on the side of my head that was 2 inches short! My hair wasn't straight, wasn't even soft. I paid them P1000 to damage my hair. I was so angry at them.

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON.

    Hortaleza at E-Mall - P1500 to P3500

    1st - around P1500

I got the regular treatment. My hair turned out really nice and "bagsak" but kinda dry. I felt it just needed cellophane or hot oil maintenance.

    2nd - P3500

I liked it so much that I went back. This this time they told me to get the special rebond (P2500) because my hair is so dry, they will not use the regular treatment (even if they didn't say anything before and my hair was worse then). The stylist asked me if I wanted the special cellophane (P1000). I misunderstood thinking it was included in the P2500, that's why it was P1000 more. I was shocked when they charged me P3500!

Oasis at Rainforest Park - P1500

This is the best rebond I ever had. I couldn't believe what a find this was. I wanted to blog it, but I was in a hurry that time and did not take any pictures. Still, it was amazing. They used Extenso, which I had wanted to try for so long. Back then it cost around P8,000 to P16,000!

The price comes with clear cellophane, but I wanted some color so I willingly paid an extra P500. For a total of P2000, I had the hair I always wanted. Straight, soft and bagsak. It was really amazing.

Whenever I get a rebond, the hair near my nape gets tangled. It's so annoying. It's the same ever since. Only at Oasis (maybe because of the Extenso), I had none of that. Promise. My friend once told me that with Extenso, you can even tie up your hair. I didn't want to take the chance, but I did it maybe a few times. It would still go back to straight after I take a bath.

I knew I had found my rebond place and I was ready to come back this month. Unfortunately, their salon had already closed. They just kept that fish spa So sad!

I had my hair styled at Tony and Jackey, but I would not go there for treatment. Aside from the price, I believe Korean products do not work on my hair.

Now, I'm back to square one. Does anyone know a salon that offers Extenso for a good price?

My rebonding experience (around 5 of them) has so far involved only 2 salons.

    1. COCO SALON (Park Mall) - around 2000php

    PROS:
They assign 2 persons to handle you - one usually applies the treatment as directed by the Korean on-site stylist (after evaluating your hair based on treatment history), while the other does the washing and rinsing but also helps out with the hair ironing.

Treatment comes with a free cookie sandwich and drink (usually iced tea).

If your treatment package includes a haircut, the Korean stylist will do it himself after the rebonding.

    CONS:
Your scalp may be in for a painful ride as they constantly pull and tug on your hair as they run the hot iron through your strands. Every time I've had my hair done there has been a "No pain, no gain" experience. You've been warned; yep, it can get really painful for your scalp.

You may observe split or dry hair ends a few weeks after. I think this is due to the hot steamer and rigid ironing and pulling. To keep your hair from getting dry or brittle, just follow the suggested routine which is to use conditioner everyday when you shower; shampoo only every other day. I personally just use conditioner for the first 2 weeks.

    2. V/O (Victor Ortega) - around 1000-2000php depending on the treatment you choose after the rebonding

I've had my first 4 treatments done at Coco Salon. I'm a creature of habit, and after my first visit which turned out okay, I just let them handle my succeeding rebonding needs. The fifth time I decided to have my hair done
turned out to be a Tuesday, which the receptionist told me was their Korean stylists' day off. They don't do the treatment without consultation by their Korean stylist.

Having limited time off from work with no idea where to go, I checked out the place an officemate recommended. That's how I turned up at V/O.

    PROS:

Surprisingly, my scalp didn't feel violated or brutalized. I didn't experience the painful tugging and pulling during the ironing process. But 'lo and behold, I still got the same result like what I got from the previous salon - super straight hair.

The rebonding itself is cheaper, only 1000php. The additional cost depends on the treatment add-ons. I went for a leave-on treatment ; I thought my hair could use a long soak for extra nourishment.

My hair didn't get brittle and the ends didn't split. I think because the process wasn't as brutal as Coco's.

    CONS:
I was a bit surprised and skeptical about some steps of their process (or lack of it), because they don't pre-wash your hair to remove excess oil or dust before starting. I wonder if it would turn out better if they do.

Only one staff was initially assigned to me, but when more customers came in, he had to help out with some of them that I couldn't help but feel like I'd been left or neglected. Be prepared of having more than one handler attending you because any of the staff (including the manucurists and/or receptionist!) will be asked to help for as long as they're vacant or not assisting anyone else due to the busyness of their main stylists. I really think they could do with more staff to accommodate all their clients!

I haven't found my rebonding heaven yet but I hope this feedback helps. At the very least, it will set expectations about the above-mentioned salons. I will advice putting on a positive attitude at the very start to set the mood. Focus on the positives; a negative aura will ruin the whole experience and will only bring 4-5 hours of frustration. This may sound crazy but I believe our disposition will also affect the end result. Another friendly reminder, don't forget to bring a reading material, an e-game device, or anything to keep you from being bored.

Hello girls, a guy here with long gorgeous hair.

That said, I had my hair rebond twice(June 2009 and Aug 2011). I went to Freshair in SM yesterday, they said I cant have one again yet cuz my hair might be damaged. They said I should let it grow out first.

Tony & Jacky told me its ok cuz the waiting period between hair rebond is 9 months.

Which is which? Maybe Freshair lady miscalculated and thought it was Aug 2012?
