Yes bro, I agree that's most likely that the God Hand Slan, the only female of that god group, may have served under or was a consort of the Skull Knight(who could be Gaiseric) in a previous life before her 'reincarnation' as a god being~

Maybe that's why she's interested in Guts because Gut's wearing Berserk's armor which was previously owned by Skull Knight. Possibly pursuing a past attachment?

That is so true bro, nothing is really clear about that anime series so everything is really based on interpretation.

Based on what other characters refer to and react to Rei Ayanami, she's a genetically engineered human having both human (from Ikari's mother) and Angel (from Lilith's) DNA created by NERV. She may have been formed in a similar process like the Evangelion but only at micro-scale.

As to why she was created, my best speculation is for power and control. NERV wanted to harness the great powers of the Angels by placing these in 'human' vessels that can be easily controlled, either via relationships or drugs.

After watching End of Evangelion like 3 times (more gane tngale and rewatching some episodes).. It looks like in the end, Rei Ayanami's creation and purpose was never fully fleshed out, but I've got some points to lay out.. Gendo Ikari already had plans with Rei and I believe he created Rei for the purpose of meeting his wife again when the Instrumentality project begins.. It did not happen the way he wanted it because somehow Rei was "awakened"? and before she was merged with Lilith she said "I have to go, Ikari (Shinji) is calling out". What did it mean? Did she mean that her true purpose was to actually start the 3rd impact without intervention from NERV or SEELE?

Did SEELE know about REI? They had Kaworu to start the 3rd impact but it did not happen, they might have known about Rei because during the final moments, they knew the instrumentality project would proceed but as to how they would do it without Rei I don't know.. In the end, it was Rei who managed to fulfill the wishes of SEELE. So how does SEELE fit in with REI? I was really confused when the instrumentality project began and it was Rei and SEELE already pulling the strings because Gendo Ikari was booted out of it after Rei refused his command..

My humble speculation lang bro is that Rei is actually Lilith na at that moment, suffice to say that the Lilith cells or Lilith "soul" have already awakened na and taken possession of the Rei body. As to her purpose is I guess is to live and part of that living existence is to cause the Third Impact. I figure that was the primary purpose of the Angel Entity "Lilith".

I guess it turns out that the 'awakened' Rei is just a surprise for both Gendo and SEELE. My humble impression is that SEELE was never aware of Rei's existence or her potential as an Angel, and I bet Gendo never expected for Rei to turn against him like that.

I guess the roles and the characters of the people involved in the N.G.E. universe can be better understood if we can answer this question: What are the Impacts(First, Second and Third) all about?

yeah, I think SEELE was never aware of Rei, their original plan I believe was to use EVA-01 (with Shinji) and the EVA-Series for the Human Instrumentality Project, naabot lang gyud si Rei ato na time and I don't think they were aware that Rei was also taking part in that..

Anyway to explain the Impacts:

First Impact: The meteor impact 4 billion years ago which caused the moon to split from the earth, the meteor was carrying Lilith and some part of it survived becoming the Geofront.. wla gyud ni gielaborate ug maayo sa series..

Second Impact: "The Second Impact is a cataclysm which followed the "contact experiment" conducted on Adam in the South Pole on September 13, 2000. The awakened and injured Angel created a strong anti-AT Field which caused an explosion that melted the Antarctic ice cap and caused a shift of Earth's axis; climate changes and gigantic floods followed."

Third Impact: "The final event predicted by SEELE's Dead Sea Scrolls. It is triggered by the union of Adam and Lilith, with the result being the creation of a supreme being that would succeed all existing life on Earth. The goal of SEELE and NERV is to prevent any of the Angels from instigating Third Impact so that humankind may do so instead, thus fulfilling the goal of the Human Instrumentality Project." In EOE, the union was completed with Adam embodied in Gendo Ikari's right arm and Rei absorbing Adam's cells and part of Gendo's right arm, then Rei united with Lilith, thus instigating the 3rd impact.

just would like to add an interesting note, the a lot of fans of saito-san really insisted that the real saito was a rather handsome man. there were some, i heard, that wrote letters against watsuki-san, pissed at the fact that he drew saito-san with a wolf in mind. although when you take a look at saito-san's supposed photograph at wikipedia, you can see that watsuki-san's version was a lot more good-looking.

Based on the series, here's my opinion.. Reika Mishima is Ixtli which as we know is the soul of the Rahxephon. Why she exists is because Ayato desires it meaning she is a manifestation of what Ayato Kamina wants and thus in the process be able to connect and control Rahxephon. In the end, Ayato despite knowing the truth about her not being human accepts her and becomes one with Rahxephon and start the re-tuning process.
