I agree that in large amounts it could be poisonous but it is a commonly used treatment against mouth ulcers all around the world. The application of the treatment is just dapping a small amount of gentian violet on a cotton swab(Q-tip) and palcing it on the affected area. Spit any excess gentian violet in the mouth after treatment.
