Obama is actually pretty lax on gun control, contrary to the rumors NRA threw at him before and during his first term, even called him the "most anti-gun president in the American history". The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence gave him an "F" for not putting pressure on legislation for stricter gun controls. In fact, as a gun owner myself and one who is aware of current gun laws especially CCW laws, there is more freedom under Obama than it ever was under Bush. Again this is a product of right-wing misinformation. Nobody's taking away anyone's 2nd Amendment for a while.
I hate to admit it but YES they seriously need to get their act together. Entitlements, welfare, Hollywood, MSM, the Democrats broke the formula to get more votes. It's over. The America I knew is DONE. Tocqueville was right; the greatest civilizations usually has a lifespan of 200 years, America was lucky to double that. The FREE republic is heading for oblivion ironically sucked dry by those who wanted "FREEbies". So who's next superpower in line? China? Jeez.

GOP is most likely going to fade into obscurity or fracture into other parties, just like its predecessor the Whigs. I don't think America's time is up, especially because of its influence. An empire's power relies on its ability to influence, AFAIK, America still has this. It won't ever be the same, but it will still remain the strongest. China? it's facing its own woes too, as it tries to transition.
US are having problems right now and sounds like they're heading similar to the end of the Roman Empire kind of thing .
Yeah , a lot of people are relying on those "freebies" but it was as a result of the recession . Speaking of the Roman Empire , what happened before the barbarians started to attack the Empire and eventually out of existence , the people were not in touch with the reality that their city is THE GREAT that any problems will be solved . They ignored what's happening outside of the city and the dangers once they are outside . Also people started having the idea that the city will take care of them . They became soft . The softness of the citizens' mindset and out of touch on reality was the starting point of the collapse . Government spending . Inflation . The Empire was already collapsing WAY BEFORE the barbarians came and destroyed the great empire .
Sounds like the US in the past decade , isn't it ?
Obama won because he very successfully blamed Bush for the bad economy and painted Romney as someone you couldn't trust but he never really came out with a new plan, different plan. This was not actually an election about the economy, this was a demographic election. There are millions of Latinos, blacks who dont have jobs and who they voted for? So we are seeing a changeover in how electoral politics takes place in the US today. Maybe americans have seen it but not everybody is willing to recognize it. And this clearly presented a problem to the GOP coz they are not quick enough on their feet, as maybe they should be to counter this one. I'm sure they will shift strategy and learn from this. But going forward, we may be surprise to see in-fighting between the president and the democrats if this economic situation continues.
abangan nalang ang susunod na kabanata..
