edge pretty much summed it up. Missouri was Romney's, but gubernatorial and senatorial-wise, it went blue. Akin totally effed up in his campaign, and McCaskill pretty much just needed to remind Missourians what he said.

Like I said before, the GOP will need some major tweaks or either the Democrats will mess up in epic proportions, if they plan to put a republican president in 2016. But a lot of analysts say they might fracture before 2020.

I think kato sang endorsement ni Romney for Murdoch, that was pretty stupid.

@Dorothea, they're not done counting all the votes but the President has secured enough to win more popular votes as well. So he won both EV and popular vote, unlike what happened in 2000. I think Romney lost it because of the way he handled his platform, and because of his creed. Him being a Mormon did not help him among many of his fellow republicans. Another reason is that the GOP scares moderates, that's why moderates would either vote democrat or third-party come election time, not necessarily because they don't like the candidate, but because they are repulsed by what the GOP is associated with, (tea party movements, right-wing evangelicals, etc.) could be liberal media's handy work. But he also lost because Obama's efforts is starting to slowly become evident. It's just proof that there are people who can attest that the President is doing his job.

Bottomline is Romney lost the election bec of his stand&being ultra conservative w/c do not sit well w/most americans w/c are liberal.......in order for Republicans to win in 2016 they should find fresh faces&young candidate for Pres w/liberal views&can compromise otherwise they will be run over by the Democrats again.......

This is not entirely correct. Out of 3 Americans 1 is considered the liberal that's the popular statistic I read. Romney is too moderate (from the aisle) for conservatives and many Christians/evangelicals didn't go out to vote simply because they are not comfortable with Mormonism (their undoing methinks). McCain had more votes than Romney.

Romney is a moderate, yes. During the Primaries he had to woo the far right, and once he did that he doomed his position in November. This is the dilemma with running under the GOP banner, McCain did a far better job than Romney ever did.

I'm still wondering exactly who the liberals and the left think are far-right? Far as I'm concerned everyone on the right or conservative is far-right according to these new liberal standards. Romney failed to represent conservative ideas because he was "in the aisle". To me that means he wasn't conservative, Christian or right-wing enough to get the vote McCain did. Many who inherently vote Republican "stayed at home" per se or literally.

Many Christians were not prepared to vote a Mormon which many many many evangelicals believe is a cult. What a huge mistake for THEM. "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know" as the saying goes.
