    i love old movies...

    1. Casablanca (1942)
In my opinion, one of the greatest film ever made. You can spend hours and hours talking about whether Ilsa Lund was just using Rick to get the Letters of Transit for her freedom fighting husband Lazlo or did she really love him but was forced to sacrifice that love out of responsibility? The questions go on and on and on...? I love the musical score...the smoky plot....and most of all, the lesson I continually try to learn everyday is that no matter how bad things get, no matter what you have done in your life...there will always be some form of redemption waiting for you.

    2. Clash of the Titans (1981)
I grew up watching this movie....my wonderful introduction into the fascinating world of Greek Mythology. Perseus, Aphrodite, Medusa!

    3. An Affair to Remember (1957)
The quintessential love story...both people having everything one could ever want yet both willing to throw it all away in the name of love. Alot of movies have copied the plot of this great romance...Love Affair (another one of my favorite by Warren Beaty and Annette Bening) and Sleepless in Seattle.

    Happy viewing!

I seem to have forgotten the Godfather movies..... time to review 'em......

If comedy is your thing (slapstick that is) try any Jerry Lewis (their times with Dean Martin and even his solo movies) or even Charlie Chaplin silent movies.

The Odd Couple is also a nyc one....

Westerns are getting fewer these days but many recent action movies can be based on these - Clint Eastwood and John Wayne are the automatic favorites. Sorry the only titles I can come out would be High Noon and Green Berets.

Action/war (although these may be a bit inappropriate for your Holy Week pause but it will let you reflect on the horrors of war like the recent movies 300 and Troy): Dog Day Afternoon (Oscar winner I think that lauched Al Pacino into stardom from Italian candy cowboy movies), Dirty Harry Series of Clint Eastwood, Wild Geese (don't get the sequel), Guns of Navarone, The Big Red One, The Bridge over River Kwai, Apocalypse Now, Battle of the Bulge, Tora-tora-tora, Battle of Midway, etc. (come to think of it, too many characters and they eventually die in these movies... what a waste...)

Love/Romance: Ice Castles, The Promise (yes, Martin's song and the recent local movie was based on this movie), One on one (can't forget the theme song)

Children's: Benjie and all Walt Disney classics

Stay away from the Home Alone movies.... it was just plain annoying.
