    Default Warning: unscrupulous watch technician

Long story short. Do not get your watches batteries changed at SM top floor watch shop near the cinema especially if its an expensive watch. The scam is he will "replace" the old batteries but actually will either put used batteries or put back the old one instead. It kept stopping after just 4 days. I brought my watch to another shop that looks more reputable and they showed me the battery was leaking and in fact this was the original battery of the watch for this brand of watches. If the battery was indeed replaced it would have been a a different brand. Apparently watch technicians are on commision basis so this kind of scam is common if you go to watch shops that do repairs. There's more to the story but I'm too pissed right now.

    Ok so continue the story.
I first brought my bulgari watch to that shop because I couldn't find a bulgari store in cebu, I told the technician that the battery is dead and needs to get replaced. So he checked it and showed me the battery was leaking a bit. I haven't used it much because I don't really wear this kind of expensive watch going around cebu. And then he told me the battery leaked inside the watched which got me really worried. He offered to clean it for less than 1000 pesos and that it would take atleast an hour. I thought about it but then decided I'm not going to leave a 100k watch to some shop. I just said replace the battery and paid 350. After a few days the watch stopped again. Thinking about what the technician said about the leak inside I was preparing to go to manila to have it cleaned at the bulgari shop there. But first I went to ayala and went to a few watch shops. They would not accept to check this watch and told me to go to an official bulgari shop. Out of desperation I thought about going back to the shop in SM. But I really did not want to leave the watch and have it cleaned there so I searched again at watch shops in SM. This time I went to a shop that sells Tag watches. There was a nice lady technician there that agreed to check my watch. What she showed me was that the battery that was in my watch is the original brand of battery for this kind of watch and it was leaking. WTF! the guy at the other shop didn't actually replace the batteries and just placed the original, leaking battery and asked me to pay 350 for nothing. He didn't even consider that putting that leaking battery would damage my watch permanently and I would have lost 100k. F@#$ng, sh#thead really!!
Anyway the lady tech explained that the technicians who work for that kind of shops are on commision basis and never ever leave an expensive watch unattended. Had I left it for an hour it would have been disected and the white gold parts replaced with fake parts and sold for spare parts for other people.
Lesson learned really. F this kind of people.
