speaking of Rama, i doubt it. Wa gani niya dawata ang mga projects nila del mar, tomas og serge dire gani. how much more kung si Bimbo na. hahaha pero body language speaks for itself to Mike. suya-on ra na... na suya gani siya Tomas ngano wala siya ang nahimong LP nominee... he ended up a whiner/ crybaby...

Yes but the creation of an entirely new position reeks of political rewarding, PNoy's entire campaign was built on Daang Matuwid. These are the things that are roadblocks regardless of how good the appointtee is.

when my 13year old says "but Dad, everyone else is allowed to do it". I still say no. When PNoy or whomever says the same thing, it is okay?

That is why lisud agi-an ang Daang Matuwid. Kung kita ang career government employee ug ing-ani maghunahuna na lang gyud siya na mangotong kay ang trabaho patronage politics ra man diay. Things like this make it even harder.

The question that needs to be answered is: "Is this position a need or merely a political accomodation?" An organization, especially a large one like the government, is ever-evolving. Management is in the business of finding problems and solutions to serve the people better. It is therefore wrong to conclude that creating a new position runs contrary to the principles of Daang Matuwid. It would serve us best to read the job description first and make conclusions from there. Is the position duplicating an already existing one or are the functions designed to help alleviate a perceived need that hasn'tg been addressed? Daang Matuwid doesn't mean a stagnant organization, blind to a dynamically changing societal needs.

he deserved to be appointed and no questions about it, track record speaks for it and not a mere russian roulette pin pointing done by mr. president

Liaison officer to the poor. That is not a DILG function. That is a DSWD function. If the DILG wants an urban poor program they have to coordinate with the proper government Department. He should have been appointed to an existing position in the DSWD.

Daan matuwid just took another small detour.

Did you read the whole job description? Are there any mention of programs or projects that Bimbo is supposed to implement that is a DSWD function? A liason officer is by no means descriptive of a purely DSWD function. Could it be that the president's management style is more sophisticated than what you are thinking? What if the president wants Bimbo to utilize his expertise to help eradicate poverty? Who better to do that than one who has been involved with the poor most of his life? Is helping the poor not a national and local government agenda? Just because a management style doesn't conform to your view doesn't mean that the daang matuwid has been breached.

By the way, just out of curiosity, are you one of the small minority who just can't find good in what the president is doing? Just curious.

Nope I am in the small minority who believes in a true Daang Matuwid.

GMA (I hope she gets convicted) created positions and look where that got us. PNoy creates a position in a similar fashion and what...., BUT like I mentioned the issue is there is a new USec position. Bimbo could be a great guy and a dynamic leader but once he moves on to bigger and better things there is now a USec position that is vacant and could be filled by someone who is not as good or who could be corrupt.

I am not against the appointment of Bimbo, I am against the creation of these numerous positions for accommodation because they can cause havoc.

Yes the President's management style is confusing........ i.e Robredo and Puno at the DILG at the same time ().........sometimes so much so that Daang Matuwid has more than a few crazy turns.

Noone said Daang Matuwid was easy, but things like this are shortcuts. Does PNoy even know that by his appointment he affects local Cebu politics (Bimbo is an ally of Tommy and is not ashamed to admit it). I bet not but he does not care about things like that. He is just setting the groundwork for an LP victory in the next elections by making sure all the DILG men are LP loyalists.

    Just to add.

Yes PNoy had done a good job in terms of minimizing corruption I salute him for that, but there are still those KKK moments (i.e Puno, Henares, etc) and it is unfair to those who we criticize in the past for exhibiting favoritism if we don't criticize PNoy for the same.

We would be hypocrites if we didn't

I could not agree more. We should criticize the president for actions that are disadvantageous to the government. But we cannot criticize him for favoritism in selecting people tasked to do his bidding. We cannot force a mayor or governor to have an administrator that has a different vision than him lest the latter will not obey the former.

This appointment is political, as is any appointment by the president. Any appointment always implies favoritism, that is beyond question, whether in public or private organizations.

The ultimate question is, is the position needed, and is the appointee capable and the best available for such position.
Please debate on that and the merits on this action.
