There's a difference between believing that there are intelligent life in other planets from the belief that aliens came here in the past and help built the pyramids etc.. I'm open to the idea of extraterrestrials in other universes, but I do not believe they're responsible for human civilization or creating homo sapiens. There's really no need for alien intervention in the making of civilization and most of ancient alien theorists just underestimate human capability in nation-building and myth making. Ancient alien theorists are also known to distort their sources which is why they always get brushed off by people who actually study ancient civilization.
