In line with our financial literacy advocacy, I'm creating this thread wherein everybody will post different seminar schedules in line with financial literacy. Before we'll start listing,
let me emphasize that such seminars must be geared towards increasing the financial literacy of the people (either for free or not) and not for selling any products (MLM advertisements, recruitment, and selling are discouraged).
I also believe that those (like me) who will be posting schedules are connected to different financial institutions hence selling is discouraged as well. We will be doing this in line with Istorya.net's rules wherein people must not be forced to purchase after the seminar/lecture/presentation.
For a start, let me inform everybody about the lectures that I'd be conducting in the upcoming weeks.
Mutual Funds Lecture
Date: Oct. 12, 2012
Time: 7PM to 9PM
Venue: Baseline Restaurant
Fee: Free
Overview about the lecture: The basics about mutual funds will be discussed in the lecture. Mutual funds are basically ideal replacement for time deposits since the growth potential of money is much greater. Mutual funds are also very "cheap" investments because you can already start investing for as low as P5,000. Just to provide some idea of how good mutual funds are (and could be), this year alone since January, the average returns of equity funds (one type of mutual funds) is already around 20%. Equity funds are expected to give a total annual yield of around 25%.
Stock Market Trading Lecture
Date: Nov. 17, 2012
Time: 1PM to 6PM
Venue: Baseline Restaurant or SM Board Room
Fee: P1,000 (early bird rate), P1,500 (walk-in rate)
Overview about the lecture: This stock market trading lecture is designed for beginners. The basics about stock market trading, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, sentiment analysis, stock market psychology, and a few stock picks will be covered. The fee includes snacks and stock market trading reading manuals. The lecture is also a prelude to a series of meet-ups. The group believes that stock market trading can't be learned overnight thus, in order to increase the pace of the learning curve and at the same time minimize the trading losses, we're providing support to new traders.. and its for free (the succeeding meet-ups).
The early bird rate will last until Nov. 16, 2012 and will only be through deposits. The bank details can be found here, the old poster of the lecture:
