captive-bred specimens registered with denr are legal. you just have to register the specimens under your name upon purchase, bringing with you the captive-bred certificate provided by the denr-registered reptile breeder.

It won't be easy to find a legal one because the black market means they have very little value. DENR are a nightmare to deal with too. When I phoned them about a similar thing I quickly realized that I knew more than they did and they mostly seemed interested in the value of the animal rather than it's protected status etc. It's very frustrating trying to do things properly here or even trying to clarify correct procedure with the people in authority.
